Neptonics systems Josh Bad customer care!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

  • So I have started going blue water for the first time and I am loving it... So I figure I will get some heavy duty float lines and Bungies ordered as we do have a decent seasonal Tuna run off the island I am from(Grenada)...
Ok all cool so I order my Bungie from Craig float lines and at the same time order my float line stuff from Neptonic..Soon as i pay for my stuff Craig float lines Craig Float Lines are sending me a email and sending me a invoice about shipping, sounds about right, right? I think so!! there was a issue(my own) with shipping , the rock stars over there at Craig float lines accommodated every issue I had and solved the problems I had with getting my stuff to me!! big ups :toast2:
Now the other guys Speargun and Freediving Equipment :frustrated2: almost one week after PAYING Neptonics not a word, I had to write them to ask what was going on, next day all i get is a invoice for the shipping no response to my email nada nix bubcus, I have a problem with the shipping options and write another email to the company requesting some clarification and options(I live outside the US) almost a week after that still not a word, now I WONT do business with a company that behaves in this fashion call me old blood fashioned!! So giving Craig float lines all my business and trying to cancel my order with Neptonics.
Wrote them saying i wanted to cancel my order and guess what? yeah you guessed it, still listening to the sound of crickets :bugoff1:
Then wrote PayPal(not a route i want to go down again either) trying to get them to cancel the payment but they said the merchant had already processed my payment :@
    Just my story

  • Weird, I order from Neptonics routinely and usually get my stuff in 2-3 days, but I am in the CONUS. I have heard that sometimes they take off and leave everything pending till they back.

  • They are notoriously slow. Their quality makes up for it though. I'll see if I get a response back from a question I just sent about my order..

  • You should consider buying the raw materials and making your own bungies and floatlines. Very easy to make and you can control the quality of the product.

Thx Ladvr, I did look into it as much as I could(mostly by rummaging through all of the old posts) and as a sailor the back braiding and or splicing would not have been a issue but the float tubes were only a few dollars a roll cheaper than buying from Neptonic or Craig float lines, the inner core I already have so ordered the end plugs with every intention of doing it myself from Neptonic(the prices were very good and reputation stellar) but had the problems I referred to above. Only thing I am unsure of is how to rig it up in terms of where to place the bungie and length(s) of Bungie in relation to the float line, logic tells me in front of the float line but I am worried about it sinking and or being so heavy it tangles me... Could put a small float where I splice the float and bungie together I guess to help float the float line after I put on the Bungie...Like most things as I dont have anyone around me doing this for me to learn from so I will have to read, do and adapt as I learn I guess...Rigging up for wahoo and a few rare shots at decent Tuna in the blue is the goal

  • I've ordered a few things from Josh (Neptronics) over the years and always had it in a few days. Some things I
just won't build anymore if the quality is high and the parts perfect.

Sorry to hear of your negative experience.

    Cheers, Don

  • People love his products and speak highly of them.

He ships when he gets to it. He does not have the best customer service. Don't take my word for it. Do a search. His sense of urgency is just not there. That's the way he is and it seems to working for him.

Once you know all this, there isn't any problems. But new customers get pissed.

I think I read a thread about online orders every 3 to 4 months about Neptonics. Does that sound about right?

  • I've read that he goes to fishing and/or surfing trips overseas and forgets about his business for weeks.

Not for weeks, but yes he does take trips and things slide. It's hard to be a small shop with few employees and be able to take a few days off. I expect it to take some time to ship and plan accordingly and order well in advance but new customers don't know that. I guess customers that know the quality take the lack of service as a compromise.

  • I'm going fishing on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm going to put the Gone Fishing sign on the front door of my restaurant. ;)

  • hahahaha those are priorities I can identify with, just did not know that was their business model...I normally am very laid back hell I am a Caribbean dude :D but when i asked what was going on and got a shipping bill in response proving to me someone was there and still no response to my emails I started to worry... But they returned my money and I wont use them again..all good :) Not appreciating them yelling at me for complaining on spearboard or trying to bully me into shutting up, wrong guy to try that shit with.. But I should have known not to do that over there..learning fellas, I am learning :cool2:

  • Josh/Neptonics posted in this thread yesterday. Regardless of the content of his post it was removed, as per Speardiver forum policy addressing specifically this kind of situation, outlined here http://spearfishing.world/foru…09-advertising-forum.html. The purpose of this policy is to allow forum members to not feel intimidated when posting a negative review of a product or a service, by the provider of such product or service. If the review is unjust the community will set the OP straight. In the case of the business that's the subject of the thread rebutting the complaint, it's guaranteed the customer will be portrayed as being at fault. How courteously this is going to be done has been demonstrated on enough occasions, the forum can do without it.

    Dan,
You should consider extorting money from vendors in exchange for not having negative reviews posted. Kinda like another forum does.

  • All it would have taken was a single email(dont forget they have several of my emails) explaining and my posts would have gone down, hell I am not to proud to have written that I was wrong if I was wrong and overreacted but having his staff attacking me publicly is a business model for legitimate concerns? I have owned several business in my life and I know how it goes...What would have been better than the customer publicly retracting without the vendor saying shit? ALSO when I owned businesses I also had some way of checking work when I was away even in the middle of the Atlantic on a bloody boat I would try every few days to check my business email EVEN when I had staff responsible for it just so I had piece of mind...but thats just me I guess and not saying Neptonic should operate that way...
On spearbord I copied every email I had written to them, they are dated so all could see the progression of time and the concerns I was having....now I wish this would all go away as all i wanted was confirmation i was not being had or there was not some screw up...As a new customer I am entitled to these concerns I belive
Again I will say if I were not attacked rudely I would have removed all of this crap(and it is all a ton of crap) long ago but now it is principle for me.

  • I can't speak for this case in particular, and I don't have any stake in Neptonics, just being good friends with Josh, but as far as Josh's customer service, things have changed a lot in the last year or so. When Neptonics was just a one man show, Johs used to go on product testing trips and still leads charters down to Baja. He was admittedly really bad at posting on the site when he would be gone and orders wouldn't be shipping.

Nowadays, things are a lot different. Josh has a full shop instead of doing business out of his garage, and has a full staff who should be filling orders whenever he's not around, which is more often than not these days.

It does suck that you had a bad experience, George. But if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that everyone has a slip up from time to time. I'm sure most bisunesses, from Fortune 500 to mom and pop shops make mistakes from time to time. I would be hesitant to base my entire opinion of a company off one bad experience, especially with so many other people having so many good things to say about them.

    Just my 2 cents...

I will still consider neptonics if I need stuff but I mostly make my own gear.
