Starting this new thread so I can keep track of all my dives in one place!
Went out today at Lauderdale and found a nice little school of some 12-14in Mangroves. Managed to get 2 and I was reloading when a nice size Cero swam by and out of sight before I could reload. Oh well.
As I was swimming in I saw a Nurse Shark Pup lying on the bottom underneath what seemed like a spider web of mono line. I dove down to investigate and nocticed he had a hook in the top of his head near his eye socket and he was trapped by the line being wrapped around the reef. I started to see if I could cut the line near the hook but he became agitated and I did not feel like getting bit by this thing, even if it was small. So after a few dives, I managed to cut the shark free and watched it swim away. Was a good feeling knowing the shark will definitely make it. Then some idiot on the pier yelled at me for being too close and I told him I was "freeing a shark from all the trash "you guys throw in the water." All he could say after that was thanks. :cool2:
Viz was real good on the start of the dive 30-40ft and then dropped down to 25 or so as the day progressed. Current was running North-South so I was lucky to beat the green poop water that was sure to infiltrate the reef at any time. LOL.
This is not the shark I free'd but another one Judah and I saw on Saturday. I would have had some video, but alas I brought the GoPro and hit record to realize the memory card was not in the camera. :dumb:
