I didn't know anything about Corvina so I looked it up. Anything you want to add Marco?
QuoteThe corvina, also known as the corvina drum (Cilus gilberti), is a saltwater fish of the Sciaenidae family (commonly called croakers or drums). It inhabits mostly tropical to temperate coastal waters of the southeastern Pacific along Central and South America.[citation needed] The corvina is highly prized in South America as a food fish.

Well, I can add that it's the most appreciated fish in Panama due to its mild texture and flavor. You can always hear them when they're around, but you can't always see them. They hunt in murky waters. This particular one came very close to me after diving to 60' in the murk and doing some "croacking" noises myself. It works very well with this fish. They come close to check you and then they leave for good. You have a very good chance to get the shot. But just one. This one I shot it when it was leaving as it came from my left side and was too close. Visibility was poor and I aimed to the middle of a shadow swimming away. Luckily Alessandro was close to double the shot.

They look like relatives to our white seabass. Guys here use a croaking sound to hunt them as well.

Oh right on. Have you eaten/hunted the two to give a comparison? I'd be curious to know the similarities.

Never tried WSB. But I've been told they're similar too.

Nice catch, Marco. If you find a place that's consistently good for corvina (or big snook), let me know and we'll plan a trip.

Very Nice Marco!
Aloha

How deep are the pargo in panama? I've hunted deep in Mexico for pargo only to be totally surprised to hear of local guys shooting pargo in 10' of water at night!

Got some contacts in nice places. Give me a call when your workload is low.
BTW, these were shot very close to the city.
