Cressi Gara Modular fins and foot pockets review

  • The new Cressi Gara Modular Fins and Foot Pockets utilize the conventional small rail system on the blade edges to attach the foot pocket tendons to the blade, and two small screws with a support plate that screw up into the toe plate to fix the blade in place. The support plate distributes the stress from the screw heads over a larger area and holds the blade nice and tight in the foot pocket. On the Cressi plastic blades the rails are part of the molded blade. Carbon blades must have the small rubber rails installed. The pocket is soft and comfortable. The sole is stiff and allows good power transfer to the blades. The foot pocket tendons have moderate stiffness and offer the blade good support without negatively affecting its flex pattern. The Cressi foot pockets combine well with Speardiver carbon blades.

    Available sizes
    38-39 (5-5.5)
    40-41 (7-8)
    42-43 (8-9)
    44-45 (10-11)
    46-47 (12-13)

These sizes reflect European and US numbers stated on the foot pockets. The European size is correct, but the US size may not be accurate. It's important to use the stated sizes as a reference to the foot pocket only, not necessarily as to how it fits. For example the Cressi 42-43 size is stated as US 8-9, this is blatantly incorrect. The 42-43 fits a shoe size 11 foot (actual foot length 11", width 4.25") perfectly. Albeit it is a tad tight (not uncomfortable) width wise, which makes the Cressi foot pockets nicely suitable for narrower feet. If in doubt about which size to buy measure your foot this way and provide the length and width.

Put a ruler against the wall and stand on it with your heel against the wall, measure where the furthest toe ends. In a similar way, measure the width of your foot at the widest part.

  • They look nice. I know people have been waiting for cressi to come out with these for a while. If they are anything like the ones on the gara fins then they should be really nice and comfortable.

  • They look nice. Hopefully they will offer more options for sizing. On the current Garas, I really need a size inbetween the small and medium. There is too large of a gap between sizes.

Dan, what kind of price for the footpockets?

  • Guess I haven't bought pockets in a while... Last time I paid $80 for a pair of OMER's...

  • Same here. i'll probably ditch my Millenium pockets and switch to these once I get back from AZ next month.

Dan, by some strange coincedence, are the mounting holes the same as OMER and H Dessault?

  • Hey all I understand I'm resurrecting and ancient (but informative) thread. I find myself trying to fit a pair of foot pockets on to carbon blades I picked up a while back. I understand that cressi and beuchat are my best bet due to my extremely narrow feet! But as I've seen in the beuchat mundial custom install thread posted by Dan; I will have to cut down the upper T rails on the blade.. to except the small rail design of the foot pockets. Is there a narrow foot pocket with deep T slots for an "easier" install?

  • Thanks for the fast shipping!! Did some minor trimming. Tendons are holding tight without any glue. Going for a pool drive this weekend. Pockets fit so well! There is hope for people with narrow feet.
