Calif. Striped Bass spearfishing

  • Just passing it along in case folks here on speardiver did not get the word, but as soon as the Calif. office of administrative law approves the new regulations (if the OAL has not already done so) spearfishing of striped bass in the ocean and the central valley district for 2013 California fishery regulations will become a reality, California will finally have a freshwater spearfishery for something more considered table fair. Not that carp and other FW fish can't be table fair too; I guess.;)

  • Wow. Intelligent regulations based on need and science. Amazing

Big win for us all and a big score for you guys. Enjoy your safe diving. You'll get bored without sharks hahaha

    i like to spear fish

  • Sounds like a great opportunity for us. Now finding a lake we can dive in would be very nice for us so cal divers.

Your Castac Lake on top of the grape vine is in Kern County and Kern County is by definition within the Valley District according the DFW map that defines the Valley District areas. Now whether Castac Lake has the visibility or not for one to be successful at spearfishing is an another matter altogether and there is an issue as to whether the managing agency for the lake and their allowed uses policies allows spearfishing or any other form of diving to occur or not is yet another issue in its self. One in or around the L.A. area might want to look into that if so inclined to do so for that possible So-Cal lake dive opportunity, maybe?
