Baja Trip Report March 6-12

  • I just got in last night from an epic trip to LaPaz and the surrounding areas. I met up with a couple buddies (Jason from Boston and Pat from Tampa) in Cabo and headed north in our rental car. We fished when we could based on the wind, which was off and on throughout the trip. The water temp was around 65* and vis around 25-35 feet depending on the spot. We managed to shoot some great fish despite the sometimes rough conditions. Pat got some great Cabrilla, and Pargo- He seems to excel at finding grouper and burger king :laughing3: Jason shot a monster of a bumphead parrot that I will post when he sends some pics. I had a great time doing the things I love on vacation like drinking beer in the shower, and eating dinner twice one night. Sunburn is not so bad when you have to go home to snow.....
I shot my first Gulf Grouper that went 46 pounds four hours after I shot it. I also landed my first Yellowtail, my personal best Barred Pargo. We shot some prime examples of the fish we were chasing. The fishing was great and the people very hospitable. I can't wait to get back. Here are a few pics including some seared Bonito, and Parrot and trigger cheviche. I will try to post a few more pics as they send them to me.

  • Nice bunch of fish. Good to see Pat got out after the boatshow!

  • Very nice!! If there's one thing Pat is good at (besides being a straight up hard working tell you like it is spearfisherman) it's finding food!

Looking forward to more pics and stories as they come in.

Shoot em when you see em.

  • Thanks Guys, It was incredible.
