Got room for two divers...Ft. Pierce

    Sounds fun Rolo, I am leaving for a trip to Costa Rica and maybe when I return we can dive one day, nice of you to invite people.

    Would reallly enjoy diving (and learning) from you.


    Any weekend (except this one) you need another diver let me know. I'll even try to bring my own gear!

    Sounds good Jason, I'll definetely give you a call next time we set something up. We are usually looking for 1-2 guys to fill the boat. Good time of year to dive up here although a bit unpredictable. But if you get it good it can be off the chain.

    This Saturday Pantoja and me joined Rolo on his boat, and headed out of Ft. Pierce. It's always an adventure for me diving with Rolo up there because the diving is so different to what I'm used in Miami and Broward.


    Conditions were great on top. There was mixed visibility with about 40ft of clear water and further down an impenetrable muck layer and a vicious thermocline, with no more than 5ft of vis on the bottom. This made diving to the bottom impossible as the combination of psychological and physical factors was overwhelming. Add to that having to swim through and almost touch dozens of huge jewfish none of which were less than 200lb, so %90 of the day I spent hunting from the surface.


    Fortunately the fish didn't seem to like the cold either and stayed mid water, the predators which we were after taking turns at the balls of bait fish. Even the mangroves would come up and only go down and disappear into the muck when we'd try to stalk them. There was all kinds of amazing fish movement you'll rarely see in Miami; different sharks, Bonito, kingfish, cobia, rainbow runner, and I even saw a school of sail fish.


    Pantoja was using the new pneumatic. I was using the new Pursuit speargun and found it to be very accurate, powerful and quiet. We took all kinds of fish and ran out of cooler space. Here's a vid of Pantoja shooting a cuda, and some pics of the catch.

    i got to say that it was an awsome day . i had a blast. it's was all i needed to leave worries behind. what I liked the most was dans new speedo

    in the video, the pneumo seemed quite quiet, is that just the video or is it not as loud as other pneumos
