Pounded the fish today out of Ft. Pierce...

We've had a real good summer thus far, with a real nice day today. Shot lots of fish. Two big Cobias, with Emil bringing in the biggest of the day. Two nice gags, with Emil again taking top honors. Adrian with real nice Cobia and best snapper. Lots of triggers, a few sheepshead, one small cuda, bonito, and yes a nice big tasty Tripletail that impaled itself on my shaft.
Great day on the water. Decent viz, but very very very cold on the bottom. My 3mm top was not enough, it was very bothersome how cold it was. Current was ripping a bit on some spots, but others very manageble. My Furono depth finder crapped out on me in middle of day and we weren't able to hit some spots we wanted to check out for big grovers. All in all and great day out on the boat.
Few pics...

nice assortment!

Very nice. So envious of the tripletail.. Who shot the bonito?
-
Nice fish. Dan that is a little tunny not bonito.
-
Great job guys. We went out of St. Lucie and had really cold water passing 20ft and horrible vis. We had to go home.
-
That's a huge tripletail. Thank you for sharing.

acabaron assere.

Thanks guys.
Dan, Emil shot the bonito and did an excellent job at bleeding it and icing it very quickly. We just got back from a local sushi place and they prepared some of it for us three different ways...was suprisingly good.
Davie, we had heard the reports from St. Lucie Inlet, but also heard a few reports that Ft. Pierce was "doable". The viz at the bottom was not great and very cold, but we made do and got lucky.

:thumbsup2: on the culinary adventure.

The guys in the med eat little tunny and bonito for sushi quite often. You just need to bleed it right away like you did. Again, nice catch! :thumbsup2:
Any video?!

What a trip! I've only been fortunate enough to come across tripletail a few times, but they are one of my favorite eating fish.

Here is what Rolo does with fresh Bonito:D

Damn, I love that picture. Brings back good memories and gets the gastric juices flowing.
Greek,
I've lent my camera mount to Emil last couple of trips. He filmed his stoning of a huge Permit last week that came out of nowhere through the layer of spades. I also think he got his gag on video this trip too. Which reminds me, that he may ask Tinman for his mounts for Riffe Euros.

Nice cooler fill Rolo, those are some sweet fish. I love fresh Bonita sashimi :thumbsup2:
Cheers, Don

Saw this update on FB, nice day on the water Rolo. Glad to see Emil is still getting out and putting the smack down on some fish, haven't seen or heard from him in quite awhile.
