rob allen wetsuit

  • got the "new" rob allen two peice (farmer johns and hooded top) 3mm wetsuit today. Its olive drab and bad ass and fits pretty great. Ill write more after using it. Also got a 1.5 mm Mako 1 peice in ocean camo for the in between temperatures,, it fits well also and its very nicely put together for such a good price.

  • you lucky guys in FL with your 3mm wetsuits, central California were stuck with 7mm with the small v-8 for wet belt,ha.NICE SUIT,I glad it fits good.I always have to get the next size up no matter what they say.I'm ITALIAN and we always need extra room in the crouch.ha:D

  • I couldn't use one of those because I would have a hard time figuring out where my legs would go when putting on my suit.
Sdeissen, are those the reversible (Rob Allen)ones?

  • They look pretty neat but here in P.R I'm still diving with just board short and sometimes a rashguard.

Dan is that ''pissette'' for real or it's some you came up with?, I've seen some weird stuff but anything like that. :confused1: :)

  • The pissette is for real. It can be installed on any wetsuit. The purpose for it is for guys who's skin is sensitive to urine so they don't have to pee in the suit. Also I don't know if it's possible to be inside open cell suits, maybe someone can comment?

  • Hi Dan,

The pissete can be used in double nylon or open cell the same way, in fact in Europe, specially in France (where the term originaly came from) its very common, and certain French manufactures of custon wetsuits include it has standart.

  • Dias, you misunderstood my question. I was asking if it's possible to piss inside an open cell wetsuit without a pissette. I was thinking that since the open cell clings so much to the skin it may be too tight to expel the urine. It may seem like a strange question but since I don't mind peeing in my wetsuit, and when it's too tight I have difficult doing it, it's something I want to know before I start with the open cell suits.

  • Sorry Dan, i did misunderstood...

As for the awser, it is possible to do it, but not really recomended.

In open or double, urine can easly travel to your ear zone and get you trouble with a nasty infection, same for the skin, as well as friction areas where urine will act and produce skin rashes quite easly.

I've pissed a lot inside all sorts of wetsuits, a few times i had problems directly connected with this, as an ear infection, and some sort of foot rash, but in 25 years of spearing it only happened twice so its up to you to decide to do it or not.

I feel much more confortable avoid urine in my wetsuit, besides that neopre acts when its close to the skin mantaining the thin layer of water inside the suit warm since the water entrys are limited, if we add more water from inside the layer will became thicker and we will loose the ability to keep the inside of the suit warm, and the urine that was once warn rapidly becomes cold trough convection making the cold problem even worse.

    Hope i've helped this time...

  • makes sense,, so while the initial warmth is comforting your just adding too the cooler internal water in the long run.. either way as soon as i hit the water i may think my bladders empty but the wee does come on full force regardless.. also i dont know if i could take myself or anyone else seriosly if they had a "pissete" floppin around while wrestlin around with a fish

  • I piss 459 times in my open cell wetsuit every time I go spearfishing. I don’t really have a sensitive skin, but the smell at the end of the day is really awful. What I do is taking the wetsuit off into the water and rinse it well before going to the boat.
However, I would get a try to the "pisciarino" (Italian for pissette).
