Repairing wetsuit delam......

  • It wont work if you just use regular neoprene glue?
Perhaps put one layer on the nylon first and let it dry out. Just to have something better for the second, regular layer of glue to adhere to?
I have done that with neoprene to neoprene if it was a tear in an old suit and the surface was very porous.

  • Mike, you can't do it at home in any way that would last. It's a factory process done in sheets, which in itself takes knowhow to get right.

Just curious if it's a new suit or old suit that delaminated?

Gecko, neoprene glue is only for rough neoprene to rough neoprene. Not Nylon or Lycra to neoprene.

Thanks Dan. The suit is 9 years old with a few hundred surf sessions on it. Its been a good suit but the sun eventually takes its toll. Not worth an extensive repair at this point.
