First Alaska Cabezon spearfishing!

Its funny how as soon as you talk about how unusual or rare some thing is, that some thing happens. After commenting on searun's post about seeing only one cabezon in Alaska in all my years here wouldn't you know the very next time in the water I get one I also got a 10lb lingcod and some rockfish while my buddy picked scallops. Learned some more what not to do's with my gopro though I think the lingcod video came out well enough that I can post what I got a little later on. What I take from this day is Im still learning

Speardiver Kanaloa 7mm, I love it! It's warmer and more comfortable than the Henderson gold core semi dry I had.

Thanks, It's out of Stock in 2XL for the Kids size in 7mm . Be good for scuba diving if he gets into it.

It's in stock in 5mm size.

I use a one piece 5mm and I'm good for about 90 min to 2 hours before I got to get out from cold.

My water is typically 52 - 58 F , you might be a tad colder,

How is fit on the ankles, My son has big ankles and thick thighs. You and him look to be of similar build.

It's a very forgiving fit compared to the scuba suits I've tried ( Henderson "hyperstretch" was close, but twice the price) the cuffs are not constricting. I was in the water for about 5 hours today with temp in the low 50s on the surface. I have yet to get out because of being cold with this suit. For me the 5mm speardiver socks have made the biggest difference in staying warm.

We make "Poor Mans Lobster" from them. Cut it into 1" cubes and then boil them in 7-Up. Dip in butter.

Sorry guys for the late response. I am not the chef in the house just the hunter gatherer. I guess it has always been a NW thing to do with Cabezon. Cube it, boil them in 7-Up, when they start to float off bottom, enjoy. Try it with a dense white meat and. You might like it. Not an expensive recipe so if it doesn't suit your tastes you are out any pricey ingredients. It is NOT exactly like Lobster as the name suggests but still good.
