  • Flats rig for diving ?

    Weather would be the most important factor. I have a BC 201 proguide that I dive out of regularly and feel confident in it's capabilities, with that said during mini season this year in Marathon I was 5 miles offshore when the wind picked up. I stuffed the bow twice on my ride in (by myself) and each time took on water to almost gunnel height, had I of been in an open boat like the IPB I would have surely sunk. Be careful in whatever you choose. After September I won't even risk taking the small boat out fwiw. By the way there are time when I don't feel comfortable taking my Contender out of Boca or Hillsboro...

    Bluewater is great in May. Lots of dolphin, some wahoo, humps should have tuna on them (if you go in the afternoon there shouldnt be as many boats on them, chum and flashers will help, sharks tend to get heavy there though). Kaiyo grill at mm81 has amazing food (cant go wrong with the "alligator light hogfish")
    and great sushi ! Wahoo bar at whale harbor has the best cracked conch. Have fun and Goodluck.

    New to this forum, found it after searching for a great deal on the Aeris F10 (Thanks Dan !). Im originally from Hollywood FL but now live in Ft. Myers for work. I spear anywhere from Boca Grande to Broward to Key West. Looking forward to meeting new people and contributing where I can.
