Hi alot of professional spearo's down here in Australia play with the lenght of there spears in there railguns/pipe guns, most commonly shortening them. Although i have heard of people using longer than standard.
Unlike the US down here people mostly use railguns/pipe guns with Rob allen being the favourite it is very very uncommon to see someone with a wooden gun.
I am very interested to hear what the positves and negatives are of using a different length spear to standard are

Hi there
This weekend i went for a solo dive water was 4-5 metre vis quite bad for round here, anyways got my first amberjack's, both on one shot so stoked! there not common around ( Sydney Australia) here so im having trouble finding a recipe can anyone recommend me one?
I would prefer to cook them whole as they are not very big and hate wasting whats left after my weak attempt at a fillet.
Thanks in advance Ollie -
I have a rob allen combo flasher its the kamikaze and shoal put together, its rigged to a rob allen chicken float which i connect to my main float it works great to bring in the nice pelagics and excite the bait fish. its great in slightly choppy conditions as it bobs itself up and down

Hello my name is Ollie
I have been spearfishing for about a Two years now in Sydney Australia (half way down the east coast).
I think you have a great forum here which gets a lot more activity than our Syd forum. I thought it would be nice to share some of my catches with you before our summer is over. Some of the fish we have in Sydney are yellowtail-we call them kingfish, white sea bass-we call them dhufish, dolfin fish, cobia, yellowtail tuna and a few others not so important.
look forward to sharing some footage of my new gopro when i can finally get it to work.
Cheers Ollie
