@ itsjustmark - I use a 6/7mm wetsuit with a hood, gloves and boots in the early season, however most of the year I just wear a long sleeve underarmor shirt and some shorts (I am usually in less than 30ft of water, or in a warm bay). I'll be posting pics sometime soon that shows all that :)

Hi everyone - I am a spearo from Northern Canada - started about 6 yrs ago when I was working as a Conservation Officer in Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan, which is a freshwater fisherman's paradise! Lake Athabasca, Black Lake and Riou Lake hold huge fish, as do many of the rivers. I love spearfishing - but it's pretty rare in my area, so I never had many folks to go with (at least, nobody wanted to drop the rod and get out of the boat!). Anyways, I am interested in browsing pictures and checking out new gear and techniques that might suit themselves to my climate and fish species.
I currently live in Alberta, which has some pretty tight restrictions on what you can harvest, so I am not very actively spearfishing right now. I may have a chance to chase perch or ling-cod this summer - but thats a far cry from my experience in Saskatchewan! I have extra gear I am looking to sell (to finance my other passion - bowhunting), so look for those posts in the coming days. If there are any (western) Canadian spearos on this forum - please send me a message - I may be selling some gear, but I'm not packing it in!! If you know any lakes with good water clarity and decent fish populations - help me out!

Thanks- nice to be on here!
