I have for sale a Randall Service Model 1911 .45 auto pistol with 3 Randall mags, no box or papers, that is used and would rate in 70% to 80% condition . . .a strong 75% piece! This is an all stainless pistol 5” barrel, fixed sights, bead blasted radios top on slide, Pachmayr grips and in perfect working order, but does have some “use” blemishes. There is some history with Randall pistols, interested buyers PLEASE do your homework on this pistol before making your offer . . . all respectable offers will be entertained. Would prefer to sell locally (Homosassa/Crystal River area), but if it must be shipped, the buyer is responsible for the FFl on both ends and shipping. I honestly do not have a bottom dollar figure. . .nor do I expect to make a home run full value on this deal . . . a respectable figure ? $ ? If you should require additional pictures, information or would like to make an offer, please shoot me a PM and I will get back with you. Thank you for your time. :thumbsup2:

I have the Armor Amphibian bag and it holds "ALL" my s#!t ! ! ! It does not have the different compartments in it, but all my gear+, gun velcro strapped to one side and PVC tube of shafts to the other, with the back pac straps it makes a great travle bag. Armor has all sorts of other speciality bags too. Dan's bag would be great for a day trip, or if you didn't pack everything but the kitchen sink like me.:rolleyes1:

Thank you for the advice. . . .it just so happend that I built the PVC/Visqueen/duct tape/dust free/heated and vented/ 8'X8' "MAC DADDY" gun finish room yesterday and put my first coat on! ! ! Not to bad, had some fish eyes and bubbles. I think most of the bubbles were from the paduak, it has very grainy pores after you blow it off and the fish eyes probably from the ipe, it is a very oily wood. The colors look sooooo damn good with epoxy on them! ! ! The paduak looks almost 3-D, like you could reach into it. I followed Phil's recommendations on not useing any solvents on the bare wood, now that I have a base layer down I will sand and wipe down with acytone each coat till I reach the finish I'm looking for. So far so good though.

I was really hoping and planning to have this thing ready to go before our gag season closes on the 16th, but it isn't looking to promissing between work and Mother Nature. This morning the wind is CRANKING so hard from the north east and it is low tide, there is almost NO WATER behind my house! ! ! In the spot light it looks like I could almost walk to Mexico. I'll be heading to the shop shortly and maybe be able to work-in 2 coats today.

    Thanks again. :thumbsup2:

Thanks for all the input guys :thumbsup2: My stock is fully completed except for the final epoxy finish . . . I used West Systems for the lay-up, I wanted to use Phil's epoxy for the fact it stays clear through out time and use on the outside finish. I used Paduak, Mahogany and Ipe for laminates with the Paduak as the outside lams . . . it looks SWEET ! ! ! I fully assembled it the other night and went down to the dock to see how much lead I was going to need for balasting, and to my delight it didn't need a thing ! ! ! It sat in the water better than some of my MirroLure 17mr twitch baits. I'm going to do my final sanding this evening and start the finish process up tomorrow . . . looks like I'm going to have to find me a place to heat up though . . . it is going to be in the low 40's in the A.M., not good epoxy weather. :rolleyes1:

Another question . . . .I have a jig set-up for turning custom fishing rods when I finish them out, would this be a good thing for a speargun too? It turns VERY SLOW and works great for rods. Let me know

    THANKS AGAIN :thumbsup2:

I ordered the Herranen Epoxy kit from Neptonics and it did not come with any directions on mixing ratios. . . .could some one who has used this product before tell me how it should be mixed and what time frame I have to work with . . PLEASE ! I tried e-mailing Phil about it, but haven't heard back yet and I'm wanting to finish my stock this weekend. Any advice would be AWESOME ! ! !

    THANK YOU :thumbsup2:

I have been working on a gun now for a couple months and almost have it completed. I chose to go with muzzle ferrules and split bands for this one instead of the traditional method. How should I calculate the correct length needed to cut the rubber when I make the bands . . . . use the 3.5/1 ratio and subtract the amount of rubber there would be in the stock . . . . or is there another mothod? Any helpful advice would be great from some of you guys who've made guns with this type of muzzle.

    Thank you much! :thumbsup2:

If it is as heavy as you say it is . . . . .and looking at the grain, it is very possible it is Heart Pine or what the Crackers called Lighter Pine or "Fat Lighter". Take a splinter of it and hold a match up to it and see if it burns quickly . . . like it has gas on it. In Florida the old cattlemen used these lighter logs to make fence posts, beam structures, and a host of other things due to the fact it hardly rots, even burried in the ground and bugs don't get into it. I've pulled logs from rivers that have been down for 80/100 years, and you run them through the mill and it is just as good as the day it was cut. If you should need some mahogany, ipe, purpleheart and even some paduak let me know. I have a uncle that owns a sawmill and he cuts all sorts of imported wood. I just finished up a blank myself and I'm going to start the milling process probably this weekend.

Good luck with your build :thumbsup2:

Well . . . . no luck so far with the red tubing. I was in touch with Kevin at Hammer Head, and he said that they're out of it and will let me know when it comes in. He also gave me 3 of his distributeres, The Spear Shack only has 9/16" material and I have not heard back from the other 2 yet. Scubasworld is out of stock as well. I tried Persistant too, with no replies ! ! ! I didn't think this would be such a hard thing to come across . . . . . :confused1: I'm still searching, if anyone else has a source PLEASE let me know.

    Thank You, :thumbsup2:

I was wondering if any one ever used or knows where I could purchase continuous dipped laytex 5/8" tubing? I have seen the black, amber and blue bands, but would like some red ones. There are a few web sites that carry it, but it's not the dimensions for spearos and I do not want to have to buy a 500' minimum order of the stuff either! If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very thankful. :thumbsup2:

Dan, I agree about the folding handle, it could be a possible weak link with a large fish. I do like the line guide/slide. How long have you carried these reels? Any feed back from customers?

Now start saving for the next upgrade.........................carbon!!!!

I hear ya ! ! ! Some of my "Non-Human" buddies have the carbons and they bounce in the 80 to 100 depths and swear . . . . "It's the FINS man" ! ! ! When I get to that point, I guess I'll have to cash in my piggy bank and join the Elitist Club :cool2:. I have tried them on and they're very light and VERY nice. After a few dives I did not want to give them back.:(.

I use several guns from 45 to 60 inch lengths and plan on having it so I can switch the reel from gun to gun. And I was kind of thinking along the lines as you about three times the depth, that is why I said a reel that could hold 30 to 50 yards of line. In the places that are my max hunting depth, I really feel that a reel is going to help me. I mostly freeshaft bottom fish, and running one down or digging one out at your max can be quite a chore.

Headed offshore today with my new kicks ! I can honestly say that they are up to snuff. Went out of Cedar Key and started in 35 ft. A few sheepies and hords of BIG grunts and sea bass, not a whole lot going on. Made several drops on each of the 4 or so spots. The fins felt really good. did not feel like I was working to hard to get down and moved well into the current. Next couple stops were in 48 ft. Found some hogfish and some decent red grouper (24' fish). The fins got me down well, quiet with no wobble as I glidded over the rocks - pretty responsive / snappy. Last area of the day was on the I-beam reef in 55 ft. This is about my max depth that I can hunt in freediving. When the cobia are in town this is a great hang out for them ! I slid over and made several hard kicks and then glided down toward the bottom. Was greeted by a school of "shorty" AJ's and spadefish - cool sight. On the bottom it was covered in mangos and gags with one brute of a jewfish standing guard ! ! ! Now I'm in water to try the after burners . . . . . the fins put me top side nicely. No slipage in the footpocket, good thrust to effort, again no wobble.

All in all, I probably did between 60 to 70 drops from 35 ft. out to 55 ft. and the fins worked and felt nice on my feet. My legs don't even feel like noodles (we'll see in the a.m.). The footpocket is a bit snug across the ball area of my foot, but it is not bad. I think I would really like these with H.D. footpockets due to my wide foot. Over all, for the money spent, I would have to rate these fins a 8.5 on a scale of 10 for performance, appearence and fit/feel. For someone wanting to buy a intro / first set of long fins I would say to give these a try.

AND THAT IS MY $.02 ON THAT :thumbsup2:

I have been kicking the idea around about getting a reel for my gun. I have used a float line and it works good for me for the pelagics, but I'm not to crazy about it for bottom hunting. So. . . . the reel has become a item of interest. There are many reels out there on the market. What have you guys used and would purchase again if need be? I can hunt comfortably in 55 ft. of water, so a reel size thats holds 30 to 50 yards of 2mm line should work. Vert. / horz.- is it a personal preference or does it make a difference?

    LOOKING FOR YOUR $.02 ! ! ! ! :thumbsup2:

    OFFSHORE

    Hello Everyone,

I was in the market for a new pair of fins. It was a toss up between the Leader Fins or Makos . . . I opted for the Makos. Not that the Makos are better, I've never tried the Leader Fins, it was that Mako is here in the States if I had a problem, Dano and his staff have a awesome customer service reputation, plus I would not have to wait several weeks for delivery. I ordered these fins on a Monday and when I got home from work on Thursday they were on the pourch ;) :thumbsup2:

They are the Mako Competition Freediver FG's in MED. stiffness, size 10/11 or 44/45. I wear a size 10.5/11 in Nikes and my feet are a little wide, this footpocket with a 2mm sock fits very snug, but not uncomfortably snug. So far so good. I grabbed my mask and snorkle and went off the dock to give them a "test drive". Great feel in the water, good push up current and with 3 kicks I was down 22 ft. in a spring QUICKLY ! ! ! I'm a fair sized guy, 5'11" 245 lbs. and a average+ swimmer, I think these fins are about right for me. A tad bit stiff, but I think I just need to get used to them.

I will be going offshore this week, providing Mother Nature allows me, so I will be able to give a better depth diving report. As of now . . . . . great fiberglass blade, good footpockets and for $250.00 I think they're a good deal. I'll up date this post after I take them in the Big Pond - take care & be safe.

    Hi Everyone,

New to the forum . . . . been a "lurker" for a little while. I live on Florida's central west coast and my stomp'n grounds are from Hudson up to Suwannee River and out as far as Mother Nature and my wallet will allow me. I enjoy both freediving and scuba, but most of all I enjoy putting 5/16" holes in fish ! ! ! Anyone from around this area everr need a extra person to help with $ $ $ drop me a line. I have a very flexable work schedule, so if I am not out on my ride I'll gladly go out on yours.
