this is a short update. I already installed the mounting ball for the motor. It took me a few hours to figure it out because the anchors provided in the kit are more for gibson board than for kayaks and even thought they are stainless steel, they where digging into the kayak and wouldn't hold.
so, I opened up a hole in the tank well of my prowler 13 ( the round molding for a deck plate) I installed a 5" deck plate there. this way I was able to access the bottom (inside of the kayak) grabed the anchors with my visegrips and this way I was able to open up the anchors.
I applied the factory provided rubber gasket plus half a tube of marine goop (just in case) and left it to dry over night. Hopefully tomorow I'll be able to finish mounting the entire unit and test it at the lake behind my house.
I will be uploading some pics tomorow about the installation process and a video of the drag racing, nitro, jet fuel kayak!!!

I really don't know how that goes, but I guess if I have it tilted all the way up and I am using my paddles, it shouldn't be a problem! I know it's kinda, sorta, like cheating; but I can go farther and in faster time. This means I can go the 3 miles out to spear out of key largo. And what it would take me 3 hours to paddle, now it will take me 20 minutes. it's not cheating, it's convenience!! :thumbsup2: :laughing3:

hey guys, I just got today the new electronic outboard motor for my kayak. It is a new setup by torqeedo, I am supposed to use and abuse this unit and write my reviews about it.
If this things work as planned and I get my second battery, I will start making trips to elliot key for some spearfishing!

there are some good points here and some good opinions as well, but for personal experience I have to say that this guy is nothing but the biggest SCUM and piece of SHIT to walk this earth! I have never in my life met a person so worth of being in prison than him.
For starters his nickname mark the shark is not because of the fishes that he catches, is because he is worse than a loan shark. He used to be a cop and now he works as a boat captain with a charter business.
I met mark a few years back and I went out fishing with him as well. Even though I grew up trolling fishing and I am used to fighting big marlins, he had a different plan going on.
We went out on an 8 to 10' seas, even though we told him to reschedule, he said that we'll loose our $$. When I wanted to catch and fight a hammerhead, he said that we where going for sword fish and he insisted. When I agreed, he said that we will only use a power reel and nothing more because it would've taken me 4 hours to fight a sword fish. We caught 3 dolphins and a mackerel and by the end of the day, we landed a sword. By the way it was fighting it felt like it was a pretty nice sized fish, with the power reel, it took me 2 hours of "fighting" to bring the fish up to the boat. While I "fought" the fish, he was constantly screaming and yelling at me saying that I needed to learn how to fish and if I lost that fish, something was going to happened!
I really wanted to cut the line at this point! I've caught 700lb marlins and I've caught 300lb tunas. Every big fish I've caught and fought it has been using a hook and line. I've always believed in fair fights and enjoying the fight. This is another reason why all my reels where single speed and the strongest line I used was a 50lb test. That day, I didn't enjoyed the fishing, even though I caught a 500lb sword fish, I still admit that it wasn't a fair fight.
When we came back to port, he wanted me to mount the fish and he took the fish to a restaurant in the Miami river called Casablanca, where he gave me the excuse that they where going to fillet it and prep it. I called the rest. the day after and they said that the sword that mark the shark brought the night before, they had purchased it from him and they weren't going to give me anything from the fish.
He also got into a very bad mood when I grabbed the dolphins and filled them. He mentioned me 2 days later that he had sold the sword fish and he didn't needed to give me anything from the fish.
So I did the smartest thing, I gave every pic and every email to agents from fish and wildlife and agents from NOAA.
This guy kills for fun and he is a lowlife. He needs to be put out of business!!
I am really sorry for the long report, but I get really pissed and sick to my stomach when I see an asshole like this scum doing what he does and no one does anything about it!

Pucho.. about the rivets, I got some ss and another aluminum ones at home depot and they where not that expensive. You can also do like lunker and get them on ebay.
Pucho, another thing you can do to fix your kayak the RIGHT WAY, not the puertorican way is to get your hands on a plastic welder gun. You can order this at harbor freight tools for $50 or probably at any specialty tool store in Puerto Rico. Just make sure that you are getting the 110 volt unless you have an air compressor then u can get the one for the air compressor. You can find some helpfull videos on you tube for this. Also, you can call the kayak manufacturer and tell them that you need to repair one of their kayaks and most likely they'll send you a few of the same color plastic rods that you'll need.
Monster, an easy and useful way to mount a dive flag on your yak, I use one of my scotty style rod holders put a 7'7" fishing rod (without the reel) and slip on a dive flag to the top of the rod. This way it stands taller and about an eye level view of your average boater. This way they are most likely to see your flag easier than if it was at a lower level.

hey monster slayer, the yellow velcro strap that he is using, is a cord wrap from west marine. you can also use a velcro strap from the freestyle watches or you can even make your own.
go to a hardware store and get a pack of velcro and have a male end and a female end in the other side.
You just need to change your perspective on the way u see things. a trip to the hardware store can be a lot of fun, for me a plastic shoe box with interlocking lids turned into the perfect storage for my 510 lure/takcle boxes (the small plastic seethru ones) and it fits perfectly behind my seat in my prowler 13.
everytime u look @ something look at it with the riiging vision, not the consumer vision and you'll be ok
