Very nice. Hope you found your way over to the No Name Pub while at Big Pine Key.

I have a small pelican case ( http://www.pelicancases.com/small-cases-s/20.htm ) that I use. I have the eyeofmine flat housing and I worry it will scratch so I put that in a small velour bag that came with another camera (and that bag goes into the pelican case).
That time between taking it from the case and getting into the water is kinda hazardous - I can see how a nice slip on cover could protect it from scratches.

I rely on the ratings at Amazon - even if I am going to purchase from somewhere else I'll look up the item on Amazon just to see what people say.

Stay safe guys. It's looking like Irene is going to miss us here in South FL.
Wilma was the last hard hit we've had. Considering how much the trees have grown since then, I suspect that even a small storm will take out a lot of our power...

Spent some time in Big Pine Key back in June - took the kids snorkeling at Looe Key a few times. After an hour on the reef we climbed back in the boat. My daughter and my friend's son stayed in the water next to the boat - her head pops out of the water "Dad there's a really BIG fish!" I climb in and see this guy right under the boat.
(shot with GoPro, standard housing and lens - sorry this isn't exactly a spear fishing vid, but I suppose you can imagine shooting this guy and hauling him into the boat)

Hello all -
Really glad I found this place - being (very) new to spearfishing, there is so much information here...
I've been here in South Florida since 1993 - moving down here from Minnesota I really thought I would scuba dive all the time...well that didn't exactly happen. Now the idea of all that gear is kind of a turn off. Over the past few months I've been getting into snorkeling, and I'm ready to push a little further and try some spearfishing. Went out Sunday off Ft Lauderdale beach with a friend and dodged jellyfish, but got nothing. No matter, just being in the water was awesome :thumbsup2:
Looking forward to more dives and learning more from all of you
Craig
