Thanks to all that have replied. The fella that sold me the gun has said the same thing as the replies on this forum. I just figured it would be nice to have the gun complete. I will find and fit a plug and be done with it.
I too believe the best safety is muzzle control.

    Thanks,

Here is a modification I've done to the JBL pole spear. Makes changing the bands much easier and keeps the water out of the shaft for more neutral buoyancy.

Just found this forum and wanted to say hello.
I started spearfishing this summer and can only say I wished I would have started 40 years ago as I'm having a riot. Spearing Lake Michigan and the freshwater inland lakes around home.

We can only spear pan fish and rough fish in WI and I don't care to kill anything I'm not going to eat so it's Perch, Bluegills and Crappies for me. I have a JBL pole spear that is working out well and now have a 55CM Cressi that is on it's way to my place in a few days.

I'm thinking this winter I'd like to build a wooden gun scaled down for the pan fish I hunt. If anyone has any ideas they'd like to pass on, please do so.

    Best regards and shoot straight,
