Yea I was talking about the shape. I'm not a fan of cutting a slot for the wishbones to slide into or even screwing a metal spacer in that slot. I fear for the integrity of the muzzle and possible delam. In about a month I'll post some pics of the next gun to show you what I am going for as far as muzzle shape.

Tried something new with the shape of this new build. This one doesn't taper like the last one and has more height to it. 60 inches, just under 2 inches wide and 2 inches tall. Not to happy with the muzzle design but i'm gonna take another whack at the cuttlefish look on the next build. My router and drill press work was way cleaner this time and so was the epoxy finish.

Thanks phil. I was going to do the same thing only flipped the other way. My blank right now is only 1 3/4 tall so it actually needs some height to it. Thats a beautiful gun by the way.

Explain or a picture please?
Like a normal lam but with a top and bottom piece?

Has anyone ever done an H laminate? Would this have a stronger bond or would it cause some type of twist or imbalance when making a blank. I'd like to try this with a different wood than the horizontal laminates to try out a different look. Also I kinda messed up on one of my blanks and the spacing between the laminates was a bit to much. I figured I could try this decrease the chances of delimitation. Thanks guys

I ordered all the parts from neptunics. BUT!!! for the next gun the only thing I will be ordering is the trigger mech. everything else will be completely custom.

Wow that means a lot from all you guys. Thank you. I marked some straight line for where I wanted the band slots to line up then I made a perfect straight groove with my dremmel. After that I did a lot of eye balling and sanded down the corners. I spent a lot of time checking it with the perfect light to see the shadows. The gun starts at 2 1/4 towards the butt of the gun and tapers to about 1 1/2 at the muzzle. I used my router with my mortising jig to cut down the rails of the gun and then used a hand planer and files to smooth it out. Again this took a lot of eye balling. It shoots a 5/16 shafts and I added about 4 ounces of led towards the muzzle. It floats with out the shaft in but with it in it sinks pretty fast with the muzzle angled down at about 45 %. Took it out for a test shot yesterday and this thing is deadly accurate!! That was my biggest fear thinking that it would look pretty but not perform well. It blew me away how much range and accuracy this think had. There is probably zero recoil as well. I just ripped a piece of teak to make 4 more guns today.

Some more pics of the band grooves

Lots of speed bumps and eye balling. For the next three guns Im building I will do a few things differently to make the process smoother and cleaner for my self but I am very happy with the outcome for the first build ever.

thanks guys. I have the 405 fiberglass blend. Will this be good and what ratio should i go by.

I didn't use any hardener. This was recommended by a friend who has built guns.

So 7 days ago i laminated my first Teak blank. I opposed the grains, sanded with 100 grit, used acetone to clean after vacuuming. I used west systems 105 for epoxy and lathered on a good amount on both sides of each piece except the outside ones of course. I clamped the pieces together using two 2' angle iron pieces sitting on some L brackets i screwed into the studs in my storage room. each clamp had one squeeze. When i took the clamps off today not one of them was holding together. What went wrong here.

If i can take off work early i'd be down. what time you thinking?

All my dive buddies are out on training or busy with other stuff. I guess that's why i need to meet more dive buddies outside of the military. I'm down to go when ever today so if anyone wants to hit me up and ill be on here checking. I was thinking about kicking out from boomers, going out into the deeper waters (40 foot range) then kicking back in to check some holes.

I read a thread on this talking about how fish that hang out on the bottom layer of water usually are more prone to bacteria and parasites. Cabs being one of those fish. But the only thing i heard of was white visible worms that are not harmful when cooked. I heard Hali's are the worst.
