Bill should thank that NihilisticAsshole that made him a facebook instead of pressing charges. I mean all he really did was give Bill a whole new audience to tell tales of accomplishment and prove his own legitamacy to. i think someone did Bill a favor. :)

joe acevedos Banana Dick Soup will give you a bigger boner and it doesnt require killing a shark. ass you need is the head of a sheephead, a lobster, a handful of scallops, red wine, and some mustard. maybe he will post the recipe and people will stop killing sharks for thier fins.

i have no problem with people killing sharks, as long as they eat the whole fish. but finning is a massive waste and theres got to be a reasonable way to stop it.

nice move brett. when you gonna come up here and dive laguna? we can shoot fish with cameras and eat vegan food at one of those nice little cafes near main beach. i want to see if the bluefin tuna are back now that its illegal to spear fish in laguna.

those cheap old school jbl double flopper are garbage for hunting ont he rocks. when hole hunting i use a 5 prong, when hunting big game i use the warhead (which is awesome) and for everything in between i prefer a regular old flopper shaft (as opposed to a flopper tip). the only thing the flopper tips are good for in my opinion is shooting halibut in the sand. the bvreak away double flopper is great for this, however the 5 prong is even better...

I think Mike E or ScienceMike saw a real shark between abalone point and reef point a while back.

That makes allot of sense, El Moro has lots of huge bat ray and other snacks along with being close enough to the New Port Canyon and drop off.

    Cheers, Don[/QUOTE]

mike e spotted one off el moro, i think he was with sciencemike and possibly anton if i remember the story correctly.

another time me science mike and dave p were diving honeymoon cove in pv, and me and mike were working the sand channel in about 30-40 feet of water on the outside. the clearing between the beds off the points were stacking up with TONS of bait and i was hoping some yellows or whiteseabass would come moving in with dusk. who knows where dave was, he was off being dave and i hadnt seen him in a while. i was doing aspettos on the sand watching rivers of bait flowing above me. mackeral sardines choves, everything was there. i noticed after a few minutes that mike was no where to be found,m and i was out there alone, i hear mike yellling something untelligiable and see him standing on the shore waving his hands around franticly. i yelled back.... I see all the bait too, im gonnna shoot a yellowtail. i then realized he wasnt pointing at bait. i swam in and mike was white as a ghost. i cant remember if dave got out before or after me, but we were all there on the beach, and mike told us he had seen a 4 foot tall forked tail buzzz by in the 15 foot viz, and couldnt see the business end of the fish. i guess he started screaming and bombed it to the shoreline, but i was off doing my thing and never heard anything untill i saw him on the rocks tryin to wave us in. part of me wishes i had seen the shark...part of me is glad that i had no idea it was there. i wonder how often we get buzzed and never notice.....

don is the friggin man. ive been telling people for years, but you really just have to meet him in person to understand. don, call me if you want to dive later this afternoon or tomorrow mornin. theres some schoolies around, and lobsters everywhere in laguna beach. apparently theres not enough for the green party though, cause we only have 10 days left to dive it....

Daniel... take me to a 10 bug before they are banned forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then all "tones" will be permissible.

BTW lets go get some scallops on Saturday afternoon...........You down?

im down to do a 3 way with you and daniel sunday afternoon. theres a bad ass cave i want to explore when the surge isnt going to push me back into a death chamber....

posting the regs helps alot of people, but you do it with such consistacy and with a tone that makes you sound more like fishcop than someone tryin to help, try responding to people via pm, or just changing your tone in general.

the rock i want to hit is in that area. daniel you need to stop correcting people all the time. everyone knows it gives you a boner, and everyone knows you look at the DFG webpage more than beek looks at internet porn. maybe you should just follow in his foot steps. your starting to sound like dockrat from good ole spearboard. if you keep it up, someone is gonna shove a green abalone up your ass and call caltip on you, and i will standing there laughing.

]ive got reefs for days in laguna that are packed with fat scallops. my boats motor blew up. someone come dive with me so we can free these scallops from thier rocky prisons before its too late. ill pay gas, and ill make sure you get the 10 biggest scallops from our combined limit. im free sunday and tuesday afternoons, and all day wednesdays. i have gas money, and im willing to pull on your anchor. some of these spots are so wide open, there wont be a need to anchor

don when the weather cleans up, lets get some from a future MPA zone, we left plenty behind. if we can get my hands on a buddies boat, i know spots that have way better pickens then this spot, if not , there are plenty of limits of nice scallops on this spot...

me and wes got out tonite to try and stock up on food before the wind kicks up. i got my ass handed too me tonight in a closure zone. viz was good, surf was not. i was pretty worried about the kick in with a heavily loaded banks board in pounding surf. i made it in just fine.

    Funny you say this... another observation I have of the smal MPA at Catalina;

Avalon MPAs; the only fish you see are right next to the entrances where people feed the fish and next to the path of the subs... if you dive Casino point to the north the fish are few and far between.

West end Invertabrae sanctuary... SMCA no take of all inverts (lobster, urchin, squid, ect.); For some reason when I dive these areas I see very littlle amount of lobsters and the reefs are barren of abs and bugs compared to other spots like Empire that are heavily hit.:confused1:

ive never dove the avalon or empire reserve, ive only dove the reserve outside of 2 harbors. like i said there arent that many fish, not nearly as many per acre as say, isthmus reef, a few hundred yards away. however the fish in that reserve are big, and bold. great place to take a camera. however i dont need any more places to take a camera, i need places where i can take home dinner. from what i remember about heisler park, it was a similar situation. not that fishy, but a few toads hanging around if you look for them.

ive dove the reserves in catalina a few times, its pretty entertaining. not nearly as many fish as you would think, but the size and fearlessness of the fish in the reserves is rediculous. i brushed the lateral line of an 8-10 lb calico once and it tail slapped me, swam 5 feet away and turned on me, doing that famous calico stare. it was so gnarly it was actually intimidating. i think the larger fish push the smaller ones out of the reserves once they set up territories...atleast in the case of calico and sheephead. when i first jumped in i wsa expecting walls of reef fish, but found the opposite, about a dozen 3-6 lb calico looming around, and a handful of decent sized female goats, with one reefmaster, and one calico that looked like a mutant grouper. the lobsters were of average size, there were donkeys in the back of the deeper skinnier caves, but not more than i see in laguna.

volunteers are going to snitches, like fishcop. i really hope this whole thing grenades in face of the dfg somehow. i think there should be a fish-in on new years day in front of main beach. ill donate a keg of beer if someone wants to put it on thier boat and drop anchor directly in front of the gaurd tower. i think if we get enough people together we can some attention drawn to us, and possibly get an opportunity to get word out publicly about the corruption and deception behin the MLPA. then again it may just result in ALOT of tickets.

so we can just do no guns, no bait, no hooks. just paddle out or anchor in front of main beach. if we keep fishing poles on the boat, but no lines deployed, no bait and no hooks present i dont think they can cite anyone, and we wont be in violation of the law. it will cause the people of laguna to panic as the fish in THIER personal aquarium will appear to be threatened. more of a wake (as don paul put it) than a fish-in. like josh said we can transit MPAs with fishing gear as long as it remains in the boat and not in the water.

That's precisely why it works :) The best bug catching device is a bichero (cuban name) which is simply any thin, stiff pole with a largish fish hook fastened to the end. You get it under the lobster, and jerk it back and up into the base of the tail. The lobsters backward motion only serves to secure it on the hook. I think someone posted a video here of catching lobster this way. The resulting hole is so small that it's easy to miss. I heard our own FWC use some sort of light which marks the lobsters body fluids where they would issue out of the hole. I imagine a good clandestine bichero would be a threaded speargun shaft, and a hook point which could be quickly removed and replaced with a speargun point.

this sounds like a very difficult technique, but if theres any video id like to see a link...in alot of places its legal to snare or shoot lobster, and it sounds like it would be worth trying when i skip the country sometime next year.
