OK I saw this thread and read it all, and even followed some of the links and read the articles.... that being said I am still extremely confused about the situation. Living in Huntington beach I seem to be right in the middle of this and its the first i have EVER heard of it.... Can someone without political bias or anything haha explain to me what happened?
How can a privately funded coalition impose something like this without anyone voting on it?
As beautiful as your new gun is, I am actually curious about the one shown as your forum avatar! I am designing a gun right now and that grip and way it is attached to the stock is very like what i was thinking. Do you have any more pictures of that particular gun? I would greatly appreciate seeing them. Thanks!
Hello all, my name is William and I am pretty much totally new to spearfishing. I am a southern California local and have grown up around the beach and in the waves. My best friend recently got me to come spearfishing with him a couple times and I absolutely loved it! I have just borrowed suits and guns my first few times to make sure it was something i was going to get into.
As of Christmas i now have my new wet-suit and gear and am eager to get in the water!
I am an artist who works with virtually any media, primarily metal and wood. I am a blacksmith and apprentice bladesmith and most of the work i have done lately has been metal fabrication. That being said... dammit I am gonna make my own gun!!!
I have already got myself a riffe trigger mechanism, and a few of the other bits and pieces that i need, but the most important part, the wood blank i am planning on buying. I was gonna buy some teak and mill it to length and let it dry.... and then laminate it.... and let it dry..... then mill it..... and let it dry.... just to make sure its all perfect but for my first gun I think I am gonna leave that part to an expert and buy a premade laminated teak blank.
So if anyone can recommend a place to get one or someone to contact I am very interested.
For now I will be using my friends old gun, and practicing installing the trigger mech on some poplar i glued up and making sure the router table is in proper working order.
I should be going out on a dive sometime later this week or weekend, for either lobster or fish and if i catch anything worthy of posting ill be sure to do so.
