Dan pointed out to me. The mech just needed to be squared a little bit more. I could have saved myself the trouble if I had just bent it a smidgen to .50. A few smacks with a hammer and thats it.

I guess I was just too excited to flex my chisel skills :rolleyes1:

You had to smack your mech with a hammer?

Well done. You've given new meaning to "over pour". What I've seen others do runs all over the top of the blank. This is going to turn out sweet.

I'm not sure how teak oil combines with an epoxy track. An epoxy coating is a natural companion to an epoxy track stock.

I have done a Teak oil finish on my all teak gun, with a poured West Systems Epoxy/graphite track.
It has been in duty since 04/2012. It has seen service in the Keys, In Mexico, and Locally. But not lots of water time.

So far perfect condition with ZERO sign of delamination or cracking. Just like lamination of a teak blank, break the grain with course sandpaper or cross gouge with a sharp tool. Before the track pour I even made some small divots with a drill.

    Seen here: http://spearfishing.world/spea…losed-track-teak-gun.html
Originally a very slightly ET, then opened up to an open track

JD is a one pony show. For what it is worth, he designed his Moana fins flex pattern and carbon weave with the pathos footpocket in mind. Almost all of the carbon blades I have seen broken from lack of support have been snapped where the 90 degree axis on the weave is. This is an inherent weak spot on most if not all fiberglass/carbon fins on the market and JD addressed this issue when he created the blades. .

That sounds like some solid product development. The American dream lives!!!!! :thumbsup2:

I have only been in Omer stingray and Picasso foot pockets. Omer to loose. Picasso to narrow in the toes. What do you guys think are best in general for a size 13 foot..... And blades... oh boy I am lost. I don't have the coin or time to test a dozen different kinds. I keep hearing "stiffer is better" "softer is better". so which is it. I am 225 lbs and tire quickly, but I have strong large quads and can kick hard if I need to. Whats my Dream fin setup?

I do until my current stock of Pathos foot pockets runs out, but without the 2 year warranty. Some divers still buy them because of how light the fins turn out.

So, were they your favorite foot pocket until you broken your fins in them? Are are they more suited for fiberglass fins? or are they just horrible and should be avoided at all costs?

I would love to have a drink with Don.

Mybe some day. I'll buy it! ;)

I enjoyed a drink and a discussion with Don one night. He leaves you with a good feeling. He is the real deal himself. No bullshit, No plumped up fish stories, No attitude, No arrogance. A real man who shares his wealth of knowledge without reservation. You would have trouble finding a topic that he does not have a high level of knowledge of. I was moved by his generosity and trust. The one and only Don Paul. :toast::toast:

Those of you who got to hear him speak in San Diego at the "Legends of Spearfishing" in 2011 at J and J know what a good story teller he is also. A great memory I have.

Man..... How do you go back to land after that experience? I am a bit of an adrenaline junky myself, but only where I am in control. I don't think I could do it. It would be to intense. Just like I could not get in the ring with Rampage Jackson even if he told me he would not kick me in the head.

It makes me really curious as to what the shark thinks of this all. Seeing that cage and the divers and cameras, what's the shark really experiencing? Do they enjoy it? Do they seek it out? Is it just really good timing that they are not hungry?

If anyones watching the cali section and that awful thread on JBL, along with numerous others.... Im really starting to like it less n less over there. Im more of a lurker here but i find myself wanting to spend more time reading here and not reading through stupid arguments and wastes of space rather then good info. I know yall dont coin well much to SCUBA shooting... Ill zip my lip about it much as possible n post more freedive reports when me n nate get out together.

OMG, I just popped over yesterday to look for something.... and I got sucked into a few pages of that JBL thread. What a shit show.
