Doesn't the sun effect the neoprene? I imagine once its dry its a good idea to store it out of the sun? I have been drying it in the shower but if it smells like this it will have to be outside. Thanks again.

Well after yesterdays catch and a long hike up a steep trail back to the car I managed to get my wetsuit smelling like fish. I always rinse my suit with fresh water but this thing stinks like old fish. I used some body soap to try and clean it but that didn't help any. What do you guys recommend to clean and remove the stink off of a suit? Thanks a bunch.

Being new to spearfishing in California I am really jazzed to be in the water. Today work ended early and I decided my sinuses needed some cleaning in the ocean. I dropped in to the water at around 4:30pm and got out at about 10 to 7pm. My wetsuit only works about 2 hours for me before I get cold so I will need to upgrade soon. Anyway I managed a 20 inch Cabezon as my first fish of the day then a 16 inch sheephead, my first ever and then I took a brown rock fish, another sheephead and a rubberlip perch. I just fried up the cabezon in panko, yum, and the sheephead are in some lemon cooking for ceviche tomorrow. I'm pretty stoked as today was a successful day with great vis.

Are those Sheep Crabs good to eat? Congrats on a nice haul!

I have never taken abalone or white sea bass so I'm looking forward to doing both.

Went out on a friends boat today for some spearfishing outside of PV. I managed one 14 inch sandbass and missed a couple of sandbass and calicos. Saw a sheephead when I was reloading and saw plenty of small lobsters and a horn shark. Was a great day out vis went from 3 feet to 20. Buddy shot a halibut and a WSB. Good luck out there.

Welcome. New here too but there is a wealth of info here. I have been going to Freedive and Spear in Hermosa and they have been helpful and they also have a decent selection of gear.

That's great! The fact that he is out surfing and he's good too. The hospitality of those guys for taking him out and giving him a board is also cool. What a great story all around!

That looks like it was an awesome trip!

Albion is a great place to camp an dive. Has a nice dock you can tie up to for a few nights so you don't have to launch every day. I posted a video up on this board and I was based out of Albion...
I'm planning on making a trip up there this April/May since I may miss this summer season due to relocating for work, depending on if the boat deal goes through...
Cheers
Thanks for the help. I hope your boat deal goes through and you make it out. How is the visibility in April compared to the summer? How about the water temperature? Thanks again.

Thinking about heading up North for some Abalone and Lingcod in April. Was wondering if you guys are plotting your NorCal dives already? I have a week off in April so I am contemplating a trip up there just need to figure out where to launch my buddies achilles from.

That's impressive! How did you grab it? By the head looking strait at him or did you sneak from behind?

Went for a dive this morning and had decent vis about 6-15 feet. Saw a bunch of smelt, 3 inch calicos and some small perch. I took a larger perch that came to check me out. On my exit a pod of dolphins came running through. There was also a dive class going on must have been maybe 12 people just floating in the kelp for about 30 minutes. I also saw a soccer ball sized spider crab. I managed to get a head ache after 2 hours of diving. It only happened when I dove to or past 15 feet. I guess my sinus's are clogged up or maybe I had a bad dive? Not sure what it was attributed to but it made me decided to swim back in. Looking forward to the next dive.
