Looks like it was a great trip! I'm also interested in the logistics side of it, I've always wanted to shoot out there at some point with the old man

it is scary how smart those things are
the only comforting part was when they said orcas don't like shallow water. i know i've seen videos of them coming up on the beach though, but i'm going to tell myself that's a different pod somewhere in australia that do that.
i also like at the end where they said a teenage whale got distracted and was screwing around chasing birds while everyone was hunting haha...that woulda been me!

Welcome Zach, I'm in the Navy and have gotten out a few times around here with a polespear. I'm in OB so if you want to hit the jetty or the kelp at Point Loma shoot me a PM, I should be able to get back in the water around the time you're ready to head out

Welcome.. I'll be moving up there in a couple years, maybe you can show me around when the time comes!

That is no joke..a diver in La Jolla found a dead young dolphin with a bite out of the bottom of it yesterday...bite was wide too (elbow to fingertips plus 1 more handlength). Gives me the heebi-geebis

Good call! The great thing about spearing is that even if you don't get any fish, you've at least pushed yourself (whether physically or getting over your fears) and you learn something new every time you get on the water. And eventually, the fish start coming!
