personal best black.. 32lbs. still having a bit of a sinus problem but tried a few dives anyway.... we hunted the shallows all morning and most of the afternoon because of the weather. it was little too rough to anchor outside the reef but we still got some nice little hogfish, jacks, and little snappers. after it calmed down we hit the outside and checked out one of our deep spots. i couldnt really dive but Dad was in the zone so i was just safety diving him as he was trying to find the fish.. usually a school of doggies and some grouper are there. as soon as he came up from a dive he signaled me that there were snappers.....i couldnt resist, i had to go down at least once.. i got pretty lucky and came down right on top of this guy.. kill shot, he didn't even twitch. brought him up from about 70 feet.

6 fish in 17 dives.. really good morning but i was getting a little sinus headache by noon and got out of the water.. the fish were at about 70 to 90ft on the bottom and didnt really want to push diving like that with the sinus problem..and i had to do a few extra dives earlier for a few of these dogs to get them out of a hole at 80 plus ft.. its kinda sketchy shooting doggies at that size and depth because they look for the littlest crack or hole in the rocks to go hide and get tangled in, then you gotta breath up for 5 minutes to go down again and get them out... the cuberas dont really do that, they usualy make a jolt for over the wall or something but dont go in the rocks like the dogs.

nice 30 lb cubera from last week.. went down for a dive to the bottom at about 65ft just to take a look.. about 18 seconds later i see this fish kind of swimming away from me already barely in vis.. i snuck up behind it closer and closer when finaly it slowed down so i layed on the bottom so see what it was gonna do next then it just turned around and came right up to me.... i made sure it was close enough for my shaft to go all the way through since the flopper broke off getting a grouper out of a hole earlier. so Jon, another dive buddy, went down and shot it again in the head just to be sure it wouldnt get off.. the whole dive took 1:52.. nice.......

a few nice snappers at the end of the day.. we found a nice little rocky point outside the reef pointing north that tapered off and dropped down to about 75 ft.. some dogs were on the bottom hangin out in a little area but was only able to get one of them as the day was already getting late.. i love diving for these fish. deep, and spooky.... we got some small groupers and a couple ceros earlier in the day..

Hey, This is my first thread so I pretty much suck at posting stuff.
Went out with hank and Jorge yesterday. I was pretty lucky. 7 dives, 6 fish. Then the weather turned pretty bad so we headed in.
Jorge hadn't been diving on over a year and a half. He's been in Viet Nam. But he was doing 65 foot dives for a minute 30 seconds. He jogs a lot and is in really good shape.

Hey guys I'm Jake from Belize. Got in to spearfishing with my dad, Hank, when i was about 14.. and been in the ocean all my life. Really love hunting and shooting quality fish and getting involved with people who do also. looking forward to reading the stories and looking at pictures and posting my own as well. :thumbsup2: cheers!
