Mahogany is number one choice wood in Belize. I ran about more than a thousand board feet pass in planer. This wood sell around $4 us ea board feet. Yet i chosse other wood hard wood for building speargun. I will using mahogany if i need to make speargun float.

Didn't know what band riser use for but now i know. Anyway i notice they add new product to neptonic system's site. A band riser that easily attach to any wood speargun. Don't know if it is good.

Barracuda love them mojarra. I had mojarra on my stinger. Barrcuda appear nowhere face to me but didn't move. Then i realize it want my fish on my stinger then i let it sting off my hand and went swiming back. While swimming back then i stop and watching what barracuda doing. It swimming around fish but fish too big to fit in cuda's mouth. Went swiming to get my fish and scare cuda with my polespear.

Ive seen these, shot them up to about 2lbs and they taste good but I've never seen them in any regular books though. The only local name i know for them is Blinch. The big ones regularly hang around near a sandy bottom alone and will sometimes just stop and stare at you. Ive seen smaller ones together with like 3-5 of them

Not common you see in reef or outside reef but you see them in shollow water by beach a lot. They are very nice tasty to eat.
Local called them shad but i could not find info about them. Anybody know what kind fish they are.

U did paint it by spray gun or by brush. I do use spray gun sometime after i build furtiure.

We only have one quava tree.
It took from this little plant of quava into tree 4 years later. It just start producing fruit last year.
One tree will yield about 30 - 60 fruit. You loss some due to bird and thieves.As maintainence thing we never anythign do to tree and we left it alone. We never watering it too due soil is very wet from raining.
I don't like quava not too much but my family does eat them and make jam.

I was born in Belize as well my family for hundend years. Belize are friendily country and english speaking country. Belize was once rule under queen in England. Can't spell her name.
As you are looking a job in BZ are harder come by when there hundren people in Bz looking job.

Belizeman, nice Guava tree. Are they the green ones with the pink flesh, or yellow ones with the white flesh? Apple Bananas are the best. I have a plant in the yard as well Judah, I'll let you have a hand once it bears fruit...
My quava is diffrent from you. When it turn ripe it turn bit yellowing with yellow- orange flesh. I have pic to post so you see them but i seem can't find my camera.

They almost taste like apple and bit of bananas but with strong taste. They are very tasty.

We have squirrel in Belize too. I believe they are yucatan squirrel. They are rare enougth to be seen by people. Am one of fews people who have seen them once when i was with my friend hunting in bush(forest). We don't eat them squirrel.
My family and me have plantain, quava, apple banana, lime and other in our backyard. They grow like crazy. We watering them once a month when there no raining. This summer we did havest about more than 100 lime and still counting from one tree. My kind tree is lime. There many way i use with lime.

Belizeman, I can't clearly see the front hole of the slings, but it looks like the opening may be conical, in which case it will make insertion of the spear easier. If this is so nice touch :thumbsup2:
Yeah that right front hole has been countersink so it will easily to load spear in quickly. In case when someone miss their shot to target of fish but didn't swimming away and i made it countersink so it quickly to load before fish getting away.

I do hunting with polespear but am suck shooting sling. I make them to sell to local.
My next project will be add 2 band but i can't find picture of sling with 2 band attach. Anybody got pic of sling to give me a idea what mind it look like. -

I used to live on Ambergris. Now in Dangriga and been in Belize for almost 13 years. I know Fidel Ancona well. We used to work together building the Nova Shrimp hatchery at Bacolar Chico.

My name is Fidel. Was born in and live in Belize. I just start spearfishing this year. I have fishing all my life using rod and handline. Now i do spearfish.
As a woodworker i make living of buildling from fine work to carpenter. It allow me building any i want like i make sling and maybe wood speargun.
Reason i join to speardiver forum so i can learn from you. By learning info of building speargun or tip how spear fish and other.
Oh am deaf but was implant hearing aid. Am hear everthing. Downside when am implant i can't dive deeper water beacuse of water pressure. There lot fish in shallow water around. Am not worries.
I hope you guy will accept me.
