Thanks for the warm welcome fellas.

    Hank-

This will be my fourth trip to Brasil and I too love it. From what I know the economy is doing very well. The agriculture industry is huge in Brasil. I believe manufacturing and any natural resources bring in much of the GDP as well. In my opinion there is a housing bubble in the main cities (Sao Paulo & Rio). The smaller cities are still very affordable, which is where I would want to live anyways - along the coast. I will keep you guys posted once we get settled in.

    Kleberson-

I know nothing about Punta Cana or St. Maarten. Sorry for that. I am from Minnesota, USA and my wife is from Sao Paulo. We will be in Brasil for a few months this winter. I am hoping to do a lot of spearing.

We will be staying near Maresias most of the time. Where do you usually spear? Any recommendations?

We hope to travel north towards Salvador, maybe Recife at some point. I love your country and your culture. If all goes well we will live in Brasil part time for years, and maybe full time one day...

Hi all, this looks like an amazing forum with a lot of experienced spearos and quality gentlemen. I am very new to spearfishing, but plan on doing a lot of it in the near future. I am from Minnesota, the wife is from Brasil. We are going to Brasil for 3 months very soon. We will be staying near Ilha Bella / Maresias for a couple months and traveling to the north of Brasil at some point. We are hoping to stay every winter, possibly start a business there in the future after this trip.

I have been hunting (big game and birds) and fishing my entire life. I did a little pole spearing last time I was in Brasil and fell in love with it. I know I have a lot to learn about the sport, but am really looking forward to picking up the skills. I've got most of my gear, but think that I am going to get my speargun in Brasil (Divecom Elite) is what I am leaning towards from my research. Any advice or reviews are very welcome on spearguns, places, and maybe contacts in Brasil. I look forward to learning your beautiful sport!
