Wow. That must have been exciting.
Did you think he was a shark at first? I only ask because I have had crazy first sight miss id's when I see fish that are "out of place" for my environment
We shoot cobes regularly from that spot so its not really out of place. But I did think it was a shark at first. Viz was 8 to 10 ft and it just swam right by me.
Am I mising something or is there a reason why you cant just splice two loops on each end and then use a split ring to attach the swivel or just use a simple hitch and attach the loop directly?
Instead of or in addition too whipping you can add a drop or two of superglue to the tag end. It is really simple and not as bulky as a whipping knot.
Really shouldnt need whipping line or glue for a brummel/lock splice. I didnt watch the tutorial so I dont know the other splice used.
I use lots and lots of the samson spectron rope at work as often as possible I try to use a brummel splice. Its impossible for it to come undone. If you cant do it just make sure the end is tapered properly and it should never come out. I think samson suggest doing a 5/3/2 splice for regular eye splices. I have not made my own float line yet so this info may not be helpful at all. But i do splice lots and lots of this stuff.
Had 2 there and got 1 more for the rode
Not sure if anyone is keeping up with this but here is my Cobia 66LBS on the scale at snook nook, Shot in Stuart Fl Jan 2012 off the beach
Probably a bit late with the post but I'v been using my koah for about 2 years now and I would buy another gun from John on his integrity and customer service alone. His prices for custom guns are very hard to beat. When I bought my gun I was very new to spearing John answered all my questions picks up the phone when ever I call with a strange issue and has the kind of customer service that is rarely seen these days. His guns are always evolving and improving over time as he always seems to wana make these guns better and better. I would like to see him do some open track guns though. I hate pulling the trigger on a holed up grouper wondering if this is gonna be the time I blow my track out. I love the wooden euro guns and would like to see a FL builder start making something like that.
Ended up in Trinidad for work and had a local friend pick me up and take me out for a shark and bake. It was amazing. So I was wondering if anyone knew what kinda shark it is they use? And how can I make some of that yellow hot sauce?
Hello my name is Josh. I live in Jensen Beach FL. Been spearfishing for a few years now. I work a 5 week on 5 weeks off schedule so I have a decent amount of time to get out and spear. I am scuba certified but only spear while freediving. Im level 1 FII certified. Hope to meet some new people in my area to go out spearing with dont see to many free divers around the treasure coast.
