Nice fish G.R. that fish is a pig. How are your ears? Things got better after La Paz?
Take care,

Don, I hear your concern, even though my daughter is still very young, she repeats everything she hears. I'm grateful she's not reading... yet.
That said, I think you shouldn't worry to much about it. Reading it in my opinion doesn't have the same impact as hearing it said out loud. You should probably be more worried about what he learns in school from his peers...

How do you get back out? pushing off with your hands? 20ft is a long way to go backwards, even if it's shallow. Was someone spotting you?
I had my Boss (yes, it was during work hours) spot me at the mouth of the cave, which you assumed right, was only at 32ft deep. After securing the bug I used one hand to move backward by using the ceiling as hand holds... Wasn't the most responsible thing I've done in diving, but it worked. Like I said, I practiced a few dives before I actually grabbed it... He wasn't going anywhere. To be honest, he didn't put up much of a fight. I think he was well past his prime.

Gerald, that lobster looks insane.
Congrats on your awesome fish as alwaysThanks Roberto.
Yeah, I'm not sure I'll beat that lobster, even if I go to the Carolinas... Was a challenge catching it too, as he was about 20ft inside a narrow cave with no way to turn around... Took a few dives to gather the courage.
Dive safe.

Here is my submission for the Spiny Lobster & Hog Fish category, I also was going to submit the trigger, but roberto beat me by a pound or so:
Hogfish 15 4oz
Lobster 14 9oz
Trigger +/- 15 -
Could have gone either way. Spain definitely wasn't as dominant as was expected, especially in the 2nd half and overtime. Oh well, shit happens. Its so much more impressive to win it Brazill in 4 years...

nice determination saving/getting your fish
A lesser man would have just given up:)I gotta give props to JC for helping me out retrieving the fish. The current was fierce, and I'd been out of the water so long, that my legs were like jello by the end. It was a true team effort.
Note to self When you shoot a nice fish in a hole, make sure you can get it out through the same hole. The fish was simply to big to fit through it with the way the shaft was situated. The angels were all wrong. We even used a gaff to no avail...
Rolo, close to one of your spots at the south end of the Key. Found the dog house while chasing a BIG black that got spooked while JC was towing me around. Good area with lots of life. Should still be plenty of life on it, as we spent all our time trying to get the dog...
On a side note, I saw 3 blacks today, all in 35ft or less, in an area where I've only seen a handful in the last 2 years. Maybe the closure has relieved the pressure a bit. They were still skittisch as hell though.

JC & myself took out the repowered comet for a little putting around behind key biscayne. Got out late and had to head in early, but we managed to put some fish in the box. Shot a nice dog snapper that took 2.5 hrs to retrieve in a ripping current, while fending of sharks and eels. Damn that was tiring. I think between the 2 of us we must have made over a 100 dives to get it out of the cave.
Sorry for the crappy pic, not up to the usual standard, but only had a cell phone...
Dive safe,

hi man,
nice pics.was you spearfishing in this place ?when you say really large porgies, how much pounds are they ?
and schoolmaster well over 10# ? is that 10 pounds or inch ?Hi Tinu,
No legal spearing on the Island, but....
The school masters were well over 10 pounds, and the Porgies were probably between 8-10 pounds or so.
The mutton in the first BW picture was probably between 12-15 pounds or so. Played hide and seek with a nice cubera also, but he wouldn't let me within 30ft.
I miss T&T, never dove there, but man did I have some fun there... And the Roti... Ahhh

I sure hope so Dan.
Wouldn't dream of stopping diving. Just been strapped for time. Bought a new house that needed some TLC, been pretty much concentrating on that. Besides, with grouper off limits....
That drop of is great. It continues for a few kilometers. You never know what will come out of the blue. Only draw back is that they are building houses on the cliffs right on the shoreline and there is irrigation run off from a new golf course going straight in the ocean there. What used to be crystal clear is now full of particles... My mom got swarmed by YFT in the 200# range there late last year during the masbango (baitfish kinda like sardine) spawn. I was soooo jealous when she told me...
Let me know if you ever need an extra body on the weekends.

Ran into quite a few REALLY LARGE Porgies...
They were pretty deep, and there wasn't a lot of light to photograph them, so excuse the poor quality. Same goes for School Masters. Some well over 10#... But again, only poor pics...
Also snatched a few bugs, but nothing special...

And yet some more...
