Congrats! Were you on the west side of Gravina?
SR1
Haha yep that's POW in the back ground. I'm going to cook some tonight and I'll give that recipe a try.

Display MoreThanks, It's out of Stock in 2XL for the Kids size in 7mm . Be good for scuba diving if he gets into it.
It's in stock in 5mm size.
I use a one piece 5mm and I'm good for about 90 min to 2 hours before I got to get out from cold.
My water is typically 52 - 58 F , you might be a tad colder,
How is fit on the ankles, My son has big ankles and thick thighs. You and him look to be of similar build.
It's a very forgiving fit compared to the scuba suits I've tried ( Henderson "hyperstretch" was close, but twice the price) the cuffs are not constricting. I was in the water for about 5 hours today with temp in the low 50s on the surface. I have yet to get out because of being cold with this suit. For me the 5mm speardiver socks have made the biggest difference in staying warm.
Thumper tips for fish! Great idea and look great too.:thumbsup2:
Nice,
You got the speardiver suit I need to buy for my son Tom. How thick is that one? which model?
Speardiver Kanaloa 7mm, I love it! It's warmer and more comfortable than the Henderson gold core semi dry I had.
Doesn't look like to bad of a day. Iv had much worse days with less fish...ok no fish. Nice looking fish George.
Its funny how as soon as you talk about how unusual or rare some thing is, that some thing happens. After commenting on searun's post about seeing only one cabezon in Alaska in all my years here wouldn't you know the very next time in the water I get one  I also got a 10lb lingcod and some rockfish while my buddy picked scallops. Learned some more what not to do's with my gopro though I think the lingcod video came out well enough that I can post what I got a little later on. What I take from this day is Im still learning
Rounds must be spendy not to mention the scope.
Hahaha ya I bet! Boom $5k, Boom $5k!
You ever make it down to the Seattle area in the summer or fall?
SR1
Only for connecting flights:thumbsup2: it's been a few years since I've spent any time in Seattle.
I've eaten a few sculpins and wasn't impressed enough to try another. The other big ones I've tried like bigmouth & great sculpin taste ok but were extremely wormy.
Are the Cabezon plentiful in AK? All of the fishing I did in the SE I cannot recall ever catching a Cabezon. Lots of variety but no Cabbies.
SR1
No they are an odd catch for us. I got the one 8 years ago while jigging for lings and it's the only one I have ever seen.
Like the video and your batman suit!
Very nice! Like the personnel touch on the gun. The one and only cabezon iv ever got here I released because I thought it was a large type of sculpin. Ahh live and learn...
It comes down to the user group with the most money to back them. We have similar issues between commercial, charter, and sport. Good luck to you guys.
"Spearfishing and recreational fishing NEEDS the NRA"
This has been one of my mantras for years and years. NRA is not perfect, but it has PROVEN to SUCCESSFULLY fight off those who would stop us from spearing and fishing. Many spearos and fishermen also are also gun hunters. Only makes sense that the NRA ALSO support those of us that hunt in the water.
That could help, but I think an organization like safari club international (SCI) would be more sympathetic as it's a world hunting organization. I did see a blue fin tuna spear fishing trip at a booth during there Vegas show back in February.
I would get fins first. I hate the days I forget my dive computer at home but it's not the end all, if I forgot my fins though I wouldn't even try to dive.
Welcome!
Spring as in pond/lake? You'll need more weight for the salt water and the waves and currents take some getting to know. If your doing 35' with out fins your doing great and a good set of fins will only do wonders for your dives.
Good shot. What was the dark fish under the pallet?
40cm gun haha taking me back! first speargun I got when I was 15 was a JBL mini carbine, I think it would be close to 40cm. I loved that piece of crap! Was a great size for rockfish and its small size and single band would let me make multiple shots on one dive. was a good size for leaning how to hunt.
Sweet! Wish we could take two lings! How do you like the speardiver gun? They look like a good gun for the price and I need something just for salmon.
I suddenly feel my brown wet suit was a poor choice. :shark4:
Love ted talks and I'm more inclined to believe the info sited there. Both have good points though.
