thats a sweet rock wall, i love how it gets dark further down
I really like that ledge too. It's where I learned to free dive! The top of the shelf is 25+ft depending on tide and next big shelf is around 60'. I used to dive to the edge then go over like in the video getting a little deeper each time. Gave me the deep water and the wall there was reassuring so it wasn't like diving in to the abyss.

Nice. Cool to see what's in your waters. No ice? <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x"> Thanks for posting that.
Haha no ice. Think rain forest! We get 180 inches of rain a year.

This video is what I put together from some of the rock fish I shot over the corse of a few days in a few different areas. As luck would have it the lingcod and wolf eel I also shot that week didn't get recorded because of a dead battery.

Those are the fish from the video I posted a while back and the one in my avatar.

Always nice when days turn around like that. makes you appreciate them that much more. Good job

Ok, no write up on how you got to the point of taking my picture with fish?

We went out Saturday 9-6 afternoon to try a spot that is close to my favorite lingcod rocks. I had slapped together a depth finder for my skiff so that we could find the rock pinnacle that had scared me a few times in the Proline when going over it. When we found the spot it was about 9' deep on the top where we set anchor sloping off to about 70'. The surface water was a little hazy viz being about 12' then once below 25' it opened up to about 30'. We dove this spot for two hours taking a half dozen rock fish and only seeing a few small lings. We then moved over to the other spot and the current really picked up. The surface water (top 15') was moving by the rock so fast that I had to swim 10 yards in front of where I wanted to dive hang on to the rocks to breath up then swim out at an angle to the current to dive. I picked up the tiger rock fish amongst some boulders at 45'. I made a few more dives in the area finding nothing worth taking till one dive I happen to come down on the same bolder patch that I took the tiger on. I had just came to rest on the bottom looking around at the rock fish when that lingcod came out from behind a bolder doing the slow pass by to check out what I was doing. I made a quick shot hitting him in the pectoral fin which from my point of view looked like the shaft was not going to hold. I made the slowest accent I could trying to lightly play him out on my float line. Once I got him to the surface I seen that the shot was good and above the thick collar of the fish. It was a good day and I learned a lesson about dive buddy's taking pictures with there phones <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Nice captures

Is there the same basic say as in Canada? "2 seasons in the year: winter and...july!!";)
We have a fall! It last two days at the end of September when the leaves get ripped off the trees by a storm.

Welcome!

Nice looking guns. I don't know much about carbon gun builds, but they look like they came out of a mold. Is that part of it?

Wonder how they got the 40lb limit. It looks like it'd float more than that

Do you meditate?
If by meditate you mean drink a 12pack of beer then yes he meditates every night.

Lunker no I haven't, have you personally tried it? If so I would be very keen to hear how it compared, especially as I know you also love the tecsub micro. I tried the stealth but it squeezed my forehead, gave it to my wife and she thinks it's the best mask ever... Masks are so much about the individual face.
I'm using the stealth mask now I had that same issue with it putting pressing on my forehead. I started wearing the mask strap lower on the back of my head than normal and that pressure point went away. Love the mask now, very comfortable.

I personally would not. I agree that white is the best to show under water, but my experience with setting shrimp and crab pots white buoys can be a pain to find compared to orange or bright green. The worst is if it is white caping or any foam on the water it makes it the much harder.

Off the wall question, but do you guys carry a rifle on the boat, maybe a marine grade shotgun or just SS pistols?
Are you thinking for big halibut? I keep a 223 power head on my proline just incase, but I haven't need to use it yet.
If we make a long run some where or over night it I'll take a rifle when I remember, incase we see deer on the beach. Usually works out that we see deer the days we leave the gun at home. -
I might of made a mistake showing you this site......... <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

Great pics! Looks like a very productive summer.

Nice! How did I miss this thread? I've seen lots of fish with missing eyes and lower jaws from H&L guys and bite marks from seals&sea lions, but Iv never thought to take a picture of it.

Hay it's the guy in the boat! Welcome ...finally!
