Dude that thing looks more slick than a banks board and way more hydrodynamic. Wish they had this out before I bought my banks board About the same price too.

Why not just add some colored tape of your choosing to the top of the snorkel? I see a lot of spearos on the vids doing this.

1. Mako Minimus(ULV)
2. Speardiver Stealth(GoPro)
I have a small face so I get a better seal from the mako. I like the stealth mask for boat dives where I want to have my gopro mounted on my mask. For beach dives where I must keep the mask on the entire time(4-6hrs average) I prefer the mako and I am thinking of keeping my gopro on a pistol grip attached to a lanyard around my wrist. Still undecided however.
Dan's 14mm band adaptors work well. I put them on my brother-in-law's old sporasub 90cm euro with 16mm rubber. That thing is old as hell and still landing some nice fish.

Ok thanks guys. The concept sounds cool, but Im going to stick to the conventional setup for now. Maybe in the future I will come across someone who uses one and be able to try it myself. What allured me was the idea of a smaller more maneuverable gun with the power & range of a much bigger gun. Sounds appealing doesn't it?

How much extra range would a 90cm rollergun have over a standard banded 90cm? Would the range be comparable to maybe a 120cm standard pipe gun? 90 is my favorite size for the reef so far but would nice to be able to take longer shots for those spooky fish.
Thanks,
Chase
+1 , on a note: as the world keeps going on with rise in population, pollution and over fishing, the fish and reef decline is not going to a halt. Extinction is forever and it's going to take a world of effort to stop this.
Amen brother!
But the real problem isn't in countries like the US. There, you have effective enforcement to manage resources. It's developing countries, which have laws…..but there are no resources to enforce them.
I mostly agree with you. Those countries do have MAJOR issues. However, we do have our own issues and the limits that US Commercial fishermen are allowed to take is ludicrous! There really isn't much regulating going on in the US here. Its a facade, to maintain appearances. Why do people have to make a living off of a recreational hobby? They don't care about the future of our planet, they won't live to see the impacts. This rant is all for nothing anyways as I'm losing hope. Why can't "professional" fishermen be forced to resort to "farm raised" fish to fulfill the demand for those that choose to buy processed crap from the supermarket all the time? It's not like commercial guys are actually selling a "fresh" product anyways... Even those chumps on the "Catching hell" though you may not notice, are out for 3-4 days at a time and their fish gets gutted and thrown on ice.
Wouldn't it be nice if only sportsman could fish or spearfish. Limits on species and seasons?
Yes'r, it would be a utopia! :thumbsup2:
Hope & pray for our oceans gents,
Chase
I just heard on the Paul & Ron show (Local radio morning talk show) on 105.9 that by 2048 we will be completely out of seafood @ the rate that it's being overfished at. So, keep on beating up the reefs commercial guys, you're so wonderful for the future of our planet. I could go on a rant about these "professionals" but Ive done that before already and I wont beat a dead horse. The only thing I will say is that if world governments actually give any 2 shits about the welfare of our great oceans, they need to ban commercial fishing as a whole. Exploiting the oceans harvests for coin is unethical in every sense but no one say shit because a lot of people are making a buck off it. As long as there's a demand for something some people will sell their own children(actually happens in parts of the world!!!).
I hope "TGO" and his buddies DO NOT get another season. FYI they just had "the worlds biggest spearfishing tournament in the world" as they boast for the St. Pete's Open which boasted 343 shooters on tanks for competition. How the hell can that be a good thing for the fish or the reefs? I'd like to know...
I feel pity for the future of our ocean, it makes me sad gents.

Chase
Welcome
Nice Marco, you taught him well man. Congratulations to the both of you! A moment neither of you are soon to forget!!
Cheers,
Chase :thumbsup2:
Not uncommon in Trinidad with big groupers and snapper. Use a slip tip and it will never happen again I recommend the new model JBL warhead
If a strong fighting fish like a grouper holes up, don't you think a slip tip would be more susceptible to a similar fate of failure? IMO, slip tips should be reserved for soft flesh fish(probably blue water) and pole spears. For reef work, it's hard to beat a flopper because of it's versatility and the fact that you can take control of the fish a lot faster with an entire steel rod half way through it versus some cord, be it steel or any other material.

I can see the benefits that a roller gun offers. However, at one of my local dive shops there's a spearo who works there and made a custom roller gun with carbon barrel. He liked it a lot especially the first few outings. The last few times he took it out the current was ripping and it was wavy. Also, he said that the reload time is significantly increased so if you find yourself in a school of fish..... His assessment was that roller guns are great tools for your toolkit, but not the best for every situation.
Have you had a chance to use them in rough conditions and really put it to the test? Hows your reload time in regards to follow up shots? I hunt on the reef so it's not all about range & power. For me it's more about efficiency, ease of use, and accuracy. Would you use a roller gun to do a beach dive for 4-6hrs hunting on the reef with constant swimming in not so ideal conditions?

Hau. You are aware that the ulusubs are measured in total length. So my 150rh is the same length as a 130 rob allen.
Just making sure you knew. They are incredible guns
Bro, I just checked out ulusub's website. They have some great looking guns!! Would you mind giving me a ball park figure on their prices?
Thanks,
Chase
Ooooooooh boy, guess what I just got in the mail today, :excited1:
Wood Guy---my 2 new Combination Spike / Line Anchors are beautiful sir. Thank you for another perfect product. All I have to do now is to get a bluewater gun to mount one onto. REALLY looking forward to inlaying this beautiful spike into a new bluewater gun ASAP.
Please let me know when I can send payment for 2 more of your CSLAs designed to fit my Riffe Euro 130. Thank you for ANOTHER quality product sir :hail1:
Could you post some pics after the installation if you get a chance?
Thanks,
Chase

Flonase is really hard on my system and I feel it when I use it in a negative way. My nasal passages hurt when I am using it routinely and to me it is a side effect that is worse then the benefit.
Also my FIL used it for allergy relief for a few years and lost his sense of smell and related taste to what he feels was using Flonase. It's a steroid I believe. I always thought they were meant to help out short term and not something to use with regularity.
Anyways I am glad it us helping your diving but it isn't for everyone and the user should read up on it before choosing to use it. I use Allegra D during dive season and sometimes a Sudafed to guarantee clear passages. I don't like it but I have allergies so you deal with it.

Since Flonase is in fact a prescribed drug, would you consider an over the counter alternative like Nasocort a safer option? I grabbed some earlier and it is better than the simply saline I normally use. My sinuses are most congested when I first wake so if Im diving that day I usually do a nasal spray to open them up first thing.
Thanks redrider, that is valuable info. I know my father-in-law is allergic to everything including latex(lol) so this will help a lot.

I read a post from a while back on another spearfishing forum. The poster was actually Rob Allen himself answering a few questions and one of them was about shaft/band config's. RA said he has actually started using 2 x 14mm bands w/ 7mm shaft with great success. Initially he tried this setup to make loading easier and actually stayed with it because of the accuracy and good power that was still there.

Same gun I believe. I own a 120cm phantom & a 90. Good gun for the $$. Should serve you well, just take care of your gear no matter what brand you go with dude.
