Hey guys,

I'm considering doing some shore diving and maybe kayaking (once i get one) on the ocean side of key west. I was thinking of launching from smathers or maybe doing a freedive with a bouy between casa marina and the reach. Any thoughts on the legality there? I'm pretty sure the pier there isnt a fishing pier and neither of the hotel's beaches are public beaches.

Also I should be able to launch from smathers right? As long as I'm not hunting there and I travel 300ft from the swimming area I should be fine to my understanding...

Some advice would be appreciated on these because I feel like there is a lot of room for error in the interpretation of the spearing laws for key west.

Also if someone wanted to accompany me that would be awesome!

Hey guys,

Working 9 months out of each year in key west, getting as much spearing in as possible. I'd say I'm beginner in skill level- can freedive 30-40 feet. Always looking to meet new friends and get on the water!
