The mech is for American notched shafts, using neptonics American shafts.
When the line releases, it also released the spear.
Forgot to mention, I can not get the mech to release incorrectly outside the gun. It's fine on the bench.

I'm hoping some here that have experience building and tuning mid handle guns can chime im.

After finishing the 2 mid handled 48" guns, I'm having an issue with both guns, both Mechs on releasing early. One actually released in the pool with a band loaded. Please see attached link for video.
After talking with Dan, the issue of preload on the trigger came up. I have the triggers pre loaded up a bit just to remove excess travel but still have a decent length pull before engaging.
Should there not be any preload on the trigger via a pushrod?

For east and west winds I normally say onshore (blowing east to west) or offshore (blowing west to east)... I guess It would be the opposite for the gulf side.

A problem with this is that "on shore" is not always the direction one thinks. On the west coast, a west winds should be onshore right? Unfortunately not. Below central California, the majority of our beaches are south facing. A westerly wind could run 50 miles parallel to the land mass without touching it.

    Cheers, Don

At this point, I've gone 3 years without seeing one. Talking about it can't really make me see any less right?

I don't do instagram. I just talk to guys at the shop and on the beach.
Maybe those guys have found them out at the islands. I don't have a boat so it's all beach entries for me

I've proabably been out on the water 30-40 times this year since June and have yet to comensure upon a single ghost. The hook and line boats had a decent few days earlier this year but have had terrible counts also. We obviously have a lot of yellows that keep it interesting but has anone else noticed a drop off in wsb sightings/harvest this year? Many of the divers I chat with on the beach are noticing the same thing.
I dive from pv through Malibu up to about the ventura jetty.

The abalone is just decorative. A friend had some abolone flashers he used and they got a lot of attention.
The pad is going to be a definite need. My 5mil suit only gives so much padding.

Thanks George.I totally agree with the band slot thing. Definately too vertical. And no. I have not cut any holes for balast. I will do that if it is needed after I confirm with weight and duct tape.
And yeah, baby's definately got back.

Here are some quick finished pictures of one of the two guns. Finish was 3 liberal coats of watco tung oil followed by 3 coats of General Finishes Arm R Seal.
The gun still needs balasted but I'm going to wait until the second gun is finished and do them at the same time.
I would love to hear HONEST feedback from you guys as I still have another to go and my feelings don't get hurt. If you don't like xy or z, id like to hear it. It a&b would have been best done like this, let me know. This build was really more of a learning experience. Now that it's "done" I don't plan to quit learning.

Wow guys thanks for all the help! And yes dan ive been planing on coming out there just haven't had a chance too. Ive been doing my research on building a gun for about a month now an i see you guys have some good stuff for a good price.

I just bought two reverse mechs from there. I had a loose spring on one but by and large, the fit and finish is really good. Install was really easy, action is very smooth.
