    Thanks Dan!

Like I thought Cressi would have adressed the quality issues by now.

Well, I will primarily dive in the Med and I have enough fat on my body to comfortably stay out for 3-4hrs without suit, therefore also without socks.

I'll get the fins home next week and will post my feedback regarding the size as soon as I have tried them on.

    Thanks! / E :)

I know. The westcoast people are blessed with possibilities for some seriously nice fishing! Unfortunatly, fishingwise, I'm in Stockholm / east coast i.e. not close to anything interesting and thy murky waters of the lakes around here, Mälaren and the Baltic sea is not very appealing.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I have quite narrow feet so I think it'll be ok. Yeah, I know I should probably have tried fins before buying but that's a bit of a challenge since I live in Sweden where diveshops selling these kind of fins are rare to say the least.

We have murky waters, a short season and spearfishing is prohibited i.e. the few diveshops we have only keep stock of products they can push volumes of, which spearo / freedive gear is not = I need to get my stuff online and I gotta start somewhere.

Now I needed a modular fin (for ease of travelling purposes) and this was the one I could get quick enough and to a acceptable cost.

Well... Im just gonna have to see how these will the last the summer. I haven't really owned a proper set of freedive fins before, I come from a pair of beat up, scratched up, floppy ol Mares Avanti Superchannel so I think these will be a notch up divingwise anyhow. :)

I was doing about 15mtrs (without pushing it) in the Med. with no weights on the old Mares, it will be interesting to see what I can acheive this season with the new fins and some balance weights on. :)

    Sizewise. You think I'm good?

There has been some issues with the rubber quality on the earlier versions of the Gara Modular, does anyone know if the more recent models have been upgraded / fixed? I just bought a set for a great price and I'm hoping they will last a while.

Also, will the carbon blade fit this foot pocket if I'd want to upgrade eventually? :thumbsup2:

Ohh, Dan do you still have a accurate size guide/recommendation? My foot is 26,5cm / 10.4inches, do you think the 42/43 (8/9) size will fit snug?

    Heartbreaking. RIP little dude!

I cast no blame in this thought, but where was the father? It seems from what I read that the father and son were out together and that the father were in the proximity when the son went missing. Did they lose each other, or why where they not together when SWB happened?

As mentioned, I cast no blame upon anyone, it is truely tragic and my thoughts goes to his family.

Wow! This is a seriously beautiful piece! I'm more than impressed with your building skills! :)

Ohh. I was scratching my head for a while there, "router accident" wtf!? When I saw the pics I figured out it was probably not a Airport Extreme router that inflicted the damage! Hope you are better by now. :)

Edit. Looks like I'm a proper thred necrophile as well! :D

Haha, yeah. I have caught quite a few octopus in my days and I love those little creatures, not only to eat them! :) ;)

I use the same trick as your grandpa, to bite them between the eyes, but I turn the head inside out first. Easier to stun them this way and easier to bite the right place. The octopus don't really die from this, bit it stuns them so you don't have to fight them untill you swim to shore.
I never used a hook or anything else than my hands to catch them though.

The way I handle the octopus is to bang it hard on a rock (a 100times/kg) and afterwords rub it thoroughly against a rock and rinse it equally thoroughly to get all the soapy stuff away.

For me the ultimate cookibg of octopus is to boil it slowly in a pot in just a couple of spoons of water to let the water pull out of the octopus so it can cook in it's own juices. After half an hour or so I pour olive oil and a little vinegar on it and stir it around. Super taste!

    Thnx Sergio.

Do any of you catch octopus? It's something I like to go after when visiting the Med.
Ok, I don't use a spear for them, but they give a pretty good fight and it's a nice challenge to spot them.

In my modest opinion, whatever the place on the blue planet fishing/ sportfishing lobbies should not feel threatened by spearos... heavy weight should'nt not fight a light flyweight;)!!

I'm of the same opinion, and I hardly think the fishing industry look at the sportfishing / spearos as competition nowadays. Bet it was a bit different back in the days when a lot of people went out fishing to put food on the table and the professional fishermen had equipment far less efficient than the current. It's a thought anyways, dunno about the accuracy of the thought... :)
