So last Sunday I managed to land my first 21 pounder. I have been mostly getting smaller fish enough for one person, bigger one maybe at 5-6 pounds so Sunday was a BIG day for me. Obviously I have never been pulled so hard by a fish before and the fight lasted some 6 minutes, all caught on GoPro, all lines tangled, all quite exciting, yet...

So the fish was a Permit/Pampano/Jurel. I have seen them three times before but never pulled the trigger as I have read conflicting info. Here in Puerto Rico the Department of Natural Resources say it's only catch and release, the local fisherman for the restaurant I work in told me I can catch them, some web sites said they are not good to eat, other say they are delicious, so what is going on????

On Sunday my instinct kicked in quick and I pulled the trigger, land it, ate it with all my employees (btw it was delicious) yet I have not been able to enjoy all the social media post I would normally do since I'm still not sure if it's "legal" down here.

I know there are some members on this community that are from PR so if anyone can share some correct info it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

Found a very old thread about Seahawk guns but decided to start this one.

Saw on their Instagram a Veleno model Carbon Fiber Roller.

The gun and design look very nice, just wondering if anyone has ever actually used one and can share some feedback.

    Thanks

Here is a youtube vid for reference.

    Hey!

I think I finally figured it out.

I was not loading the shaft on the last sharkfin since I don't need all that power.

The wishbone elevator on the muzzle is quite low so that last sharkfin was literally "slicing" the wishbone with plenty of speed and power.

Started loading all the way to the last sharkfin an no more broken wishbones.

Certainly love the roller mod more than the rail gun.

Next gun a brand new roller after I gain more experience in the water and hunting. For now this modified gun is awesome.

    Thanks to all!!!

    Hey!

Old post but lets see if I can get some help.

Recently modified my rail gun to a roller.

Shoots good and love all about it.

Only problem is the wishbone breaks way to fast. The first was with dyneema and the second with kevlar.

They both snapped I assume when they hit the muzzle rails.

The pretension is "normal" nothing to crazy.

Really surprised about this problem, went fishing 6 different times in total with both wishbones breaking at some point.

Any thought and help will be appreciated.

    Hope I made things clear.

    Cheers!

I go to an outer reef as well with SUP and comb the reef just like the vid. Lately I have not gone since all you read all over is never dive or hunt alone. Any thoughts?!?!

OK so I am new to the site and the sport. Only been spearing for about 1 year and having lots of fun and fresh fish dinners. As any students I have read plenty and watch many videos but still I don't quite understand the power of some guns.

I have a Mares Bandit 110 and a AB Biller 38 Special. Like them both and they are perfect for my not so deep reef adventures. Yet I see videos with people shooting with similar length guns from quite a distance and hitting their fish. If I am not close enough I can't hit my targets. Is it just thicker bands?? Are the mist expensive guns really all that better??

Thanks in advance for any input.
