Sorry guys and gals for my responses to Dan. I saw personal, false attacks on my character that I should not have reacted to because we all know how things can become exaggerated from behind a computer. So with that said, I will try and contribute more to this forum in the future.

By the way, Snorkel Out. For safety reasons and not comfort.

    Dan
I tell you what I don't like and that is someone calling me a cheat and a lie and by your post Dan, that's what it sounds like you're calling me. First off I don't promote or sell anything I don't believe in. Nothing, and my promotions are obviously not for you. They are for young people, new to the sport, or older who are willing to open their minds to a less "old school" of thought. Have not once recommended one school over the other. How is this promoting anything but education if I don't offer a product? Get with the program Dan. Life is not just about you.

[quote='Dan','http://spearfishing.world/forums/index.php?thread/&postID=34796#post34796']hmm.. a quick response after a two months absence. I wonder who our snitch is. Whoever you are please f**k off and don't come back.

Ren, your video is not important enough for me to hate. What I do find annoying is the recent trend of posting these kitsch freediving videos in the forum.

    and another promotion :rolleyes1:

    Dan,
Thanks for giving your opinions and out of the 16,000 views in 5 days I'm sure there is someone else out there with your exact thoughts. Kitsch as you may think that it is, it was fun, challenging, and rewarding to do. So with that said let me tell you what I really think......You can suck it!

And on this promotion thing, you can suck it there too. I don't make crap for money teaching freediving. I do it because I enjoy the excitment I receive from my students after they break mental barriers. I do it because everyone that leaves the course is a safer freediver when they leave and I know that I have made a huge impact on their lives as well as their families lives because I have dramaticly reduced there chances of death due to breath hold diving.

Wind must be blowing down there because Downer Dan has his panties all in a wade.........

If I want to see special effects I'll watch a spiderman movie. That was a wasted 5 minutes of my life. Spearfishing and freediving is something I like to keep BS free, maybe the only thing I have that's BS free. Sorry if my focus is too narrow for you.

    Actually.. no I'm not.

And how about searen? He's a member of this forum but only logs on to post something when there's a freediver death, as if to say "see what happens when you don't get professional instruction". A macabre way of promoting freediving instruction to say the least.

    Dan,

My name is Ren. Sorry that you hated the video so much. This was actually the first hate response to it that I have gotten. But, from the way you are talking you don't seem to be happy with much in life except your "No BS" diving. So with that said, sorry you had to endure it. Glad everyone else liked it. It took a lot of time and energy to do, so........

By the way, I live and work in NC so me sending you post on people that have died is doing zero promotion of our courses. I send this information so that you guys down in south Florida don't get yourselves killed. If you are on any of the other forums you would know that I send these warnings to all of them no matter where you live, if I know about your forum.

Steven, Thanks for the props. I liked you too and no matter what some of these guys say or how much promotion I may be doing, you should still consider taking a course. Not only will it make you a better diver but it will make you a safer diver.

    Ren

    Anyone know this person?

June 2, 2010 - Diver who died was from Miami

Diver who died was from Miami. It was 24-year-old Ignel Gonzalez of Miami who died spear fishing Monday about five miles off Bahia Honda State Park. Family members of Gonzalez, who lived at 11227 NW Sixth St., were notified Tuesday, detectives said.

Gonzalez was free diving from a private boat with two friends from Miami when he and one of the friends speared a grouper in about 35 feet of water and had trouble landing it. Both were taking turns diving down and trying to wrestle the fish out of some rocks when Gonzalez didn't resurface from one attempt. The friends pulled him aboard, tried CPR, and met paramedics at the park, but Gonzalez was pronounced dead at Fishermen's Hospital.

My buddy sent this to me so I thought I would pass it on

    Friends,

As you may already know, the freediving community lost another freediver while depth training at the Homestead Crater in Utah without supervision on March 17th, 2010. Patrick Vandam was training for the United States National Freediving competition taking place in Hawaii next week. Patrick recently graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and was planning on attending medical school in the near future.

Every time I learn of a freediving injury, fatality, or close call I forward the information along to Julie Richardson, founder of www.DiveWise.org. Julie tracks this data along with the Divers Alert Network (DAN) and uses it for freediving safety educational and awareness purposes. Julie has a compelling story of her own that led her to do this. A couple of years ago she nearly lost both of her sons at the same time (same freedive) in Florida where she lives. She has a video on her website that tells the story.

The attached article regarding Patrick's death apparently contains a number on inaccuracies. There is still an open investigation. Apparently, Patrick did not have a training partner and was depth training alone. His breath-hold was around six minutes. An interesting note, the water temperature in the 60' wide x 65' deep crater is 96 degrees.

After I shared the information regarding Patrick's death with Julie she contacted the family for more information. Shortly after doing so, she sent me an email that moved me. I believe most freedivers, in some way feel connected to another freediver and share in the sense of loss. I asked Julie if I could share the paragraph below from her email...

"It is for this reason I was compelled to do what I'm doing, to work to save the lives of those like her son. It is frustrating to see the face of this scene over and over. If I could bottle the anguish of this woman and make others in this sport drink it, I think some might finally get it and change their dive practices. As long as divers think they are in control and that it won't happen to them, I will continue to face the anguish of bereaved parents and post the death of those taken far too soon."

All of us are committed to the safe advancement of the sport of freediving. Please take the opportunity to promote the 'freediving safety message' when possible.

    Thank you.

Wow this is kind of cool to come accross. I met a few of the guys at the seminar last night and they turned me on to this forum and what do you know, I'm mentioned in this post. Steven, if you love to do this and I can tell that you do then you should surely take the course and if you have a buddy you dive with you should encourage he or she to take the course as well. Check this out, we got word of this just last night after we left the seminar. http://www.miamiherald.com/201…-suspends-search-for.html
Glad I found you guys and I will start posting here more.

Hey guys and gals. I met a few guys at the divers direct presentation Sunday and they said your forum was pretty interesting so thought I would see if I could contribute.
