I have been taking Notes since 1999 and it seems the more you know, the less you know about them :D

    good thread ,,,,Joe:toast:

that seems to be my experience as well. You think you've got it dialed, then they just change the game on you and you can throw all you think you know right out the window:confused1: I guess that's what makes these fish so mysterious and challenging (at times.)

Congrats on the PB Mike. Nice to have a day like that on your new boat!

I was sorry to miss the meet, but glad the referral worked out for you Don. I heard you guys dove HARD.

Looking forward to seeing some more pics, bring them on!!

Roger that mate, I finish it up Mon.

    Cheers, Don

thanks for that Dan. That's pretty much just what I was looking for, but I'm a little hesitant because of the photo editing neccessary. I'm such a computer putz it's embarrasing.

Have you come accross any other cameras that may have better quality built in, without the editing required?

The water was a brisk 52 degrees this morning and I figured the seabass had definately moved out. I figured wrong. I guess when they get their spawn on, there's no stopping them sometimes. I've shot them in 54 degree water before, but usually when it's below 57 I generally don't see them much except at the island.

What's the coldest water you guys have ever shot a wsb in?

Also, I'd post up some pics, but my camera is down. Waiting to possibly buy something I can get a housing for, any suggestions on a cheap but decent digital to start my underwater shooting with?

Gobig, the 7mm is $288. To answer about durability I'll quote hau's post http://spearfishing.world/wets…3-pursuit-wetsuits-2.html He brought the suit over for me to see and I was amazed that it did look like new. I think it's the fact that he loves the suit for the comfort and warmth it provides him and as such treats it with great care. I know that getting rolled in the surf as can happen on a beach dive you can't help damaging the suit sometimes but for that there are repairs. Otherwise for normal reaching into cracks and lying on the bottom these suits have very nice full length protection on the knees and elbows, without sacrificing flexibility of the suit in those areas.

That's an excellent price and review Dan, thanks for the quick response! I may have to seriously reconsider my next 7mill purchase.

BTW, I did find the website through another thread and love it. Still finding my way around the site here as I'm a newer member.

    Thanks again!

Those are some big flat fish Mike, congrats. No wonder you have a 2 fish limit, that's an extra 50lbs of wieght right there!

OUt of curiosity, do you use soft wieghts inside the vest, and do they slide around inside the pocket when you move?

I have been using Dan' vest as well for two months and really like the balance it provides me. I'm using hard wts. and even back on the boat I forget it's on. As soon as I get my cam back I post more about it.

    Cheers, Don

Nice review, thanks! How would you guess the durability of the suit?

Being a wuss, and an avid shorediver, my main concerns are always warmth and durability. I'm willing to give up a little comfort as long as the suits last, and are warm. The super stretchy, poorly stitched suits are not for me.

Also, price? This is the last season I'll be wearing my 7mil and probably this summer will be purchasing another for next season.

    thanks for the input

No, it's not. The offical "I'm a redneck" statement is... I have a ridin' lawnmower with a beer holder:thumbsup2:

can you pleeeeaaaaaaasssssssee get somebody to take a picture of you ridin that thing??;)

you may have to drive a few miles to get the neighbor but maybe you can drive your new ride.

and make sure you're wearing a wife beater in the photo:thumbsup2:

That's a big snapper John! How's the ceviche wtih that compared to a big sheephead?

I would think Snapper is better any way you cook it?

Yes. The picture was taken from my kitchen door. If you look behind the truck you can see a target set-up. It's nice to be able to sight my rifles in from my kitchen:D Just set-up on the table and I'm good to go. A few deer out in the woods behind the house...

this is an "I'm officially a redneck now" statement:D

Thanks Dan. I forgot to mention I'm a 44-46 size so your pockets won't work unfortunately.

The tear is not where the blade ends (in the pocket), but that's the only reason I could come up with the pocket tearing. I use DiveR blades and the angle on the blade is so extreme, it probably puts way more pressure on my pocket than the other blades I use.

I doubt the pockets are under warrenty, but I'll check it out. Thanks

So my OMER footpocket tore again. This is the second time it's happened, but I love these footpockets and would like to stick with them. Normally I see tears in the top of the heel, or the top of the arch. This time, the footpocket tore underneath the heal, right next to the OMER stamp.

Does anybody know how their customer service is and whether they would be willing to reimburse me with a new one?

In lieu of that, does anybody sell single footpockets?

    Thanks for your help!

Any fish left at whites point? used to be great spearfishing in the late 70s. red abs everywhere.allot of kelp bass and sheepshead.

Ha, ha, Whites can be OK. You'd be hard pressed to find any abs around though. Generally it's dirty and can be fishy at times, but all the kelp got wiped out this year due to the big swells last winter. Pretty much most of the kelp under 20' of water got washed out this winter on most of the hill here. It's coming back, but definately a bit of a different ballgame this year.

Hey guys/gals?, new to the board, just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Southern California and have been diving most of my life, but taking spearfishing seriously only the last 6 years or so. Unfortunately, it's become a bit obsessive and has pretty much squashed all my other recreational sports. I've got it pretty bad. Mostly I dive my local spots close to my house, some of the local islands here, and some Baja over the course of the year.

Fortunately, I've had some decent mentorship and have progressed some in the last few years. I hope to learn a bit more here and contribute when I can.

Hope everyone is having a great year so far and thanks in advance for the wisdom!!
