The vis at Emerald Bay is some of the best anywhere on the island, Parson's is sometimes milky or green
unless the current is moving but has a ton of structure and small kelp beds loaded with calico bass, halibut, yellowtail (on the outside) and white sea bass at O dark thirty. During the bug season this a great area as well.

Your going have a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info, I have been wondering what suit to bring. Will I need my 7mm dive suit or will I be oaky with my 3/4 surf suit? The 3/4 is a psycho II and a really good suit but do you think I will need more? I will concourse also be wearing my hood, booties, and gloves.

Also since I am new to freediving and not exactly gifted at holding my breath is there any thing I can do while sitting at my desk “working” to improve my chances of staying down longer? Will sitting at my desk practicing holding my breath do anything?

Thanks for all the help- this site is awesome

Welcome mate, where on Cat are you staying ? will you have a Kayak or small inflatable?
    Cheers, Don Paul

We are taking a boat to two harbors and then a water taxi to Emerald Bay. Then we are going to hike the mile to Parsons Landing and camp there for a few days. I can't wait... it's going to be a lot of fun.

    Hello Everyone-
I am new to this site & to freediving. I have done SCUBA over the last few years but I am about to camp on Catalina for 3 days for freediving and spearfishing. I am looking to pick up some pointers and hopefully after time graduate from a wannabe to a little less of a wannabe. I am from Ventura County CA and have mostly dove the local beaches and islands...
