I purchased an Aeris f10 from spearfishing.store a while back and love knowing the elapsed time and depth of each dive, as well as my total number of dives. It also keeps track of time between each dive which helps me get adequate rest (I tend to want to go right back down again).

Anyhow the battery icon appeared on the watch display and then I noticed the backlight stopped working. I was reluctant to change the battery myself and called Dan for advice. Astoundingly, he hadn't a clue either <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

l pulled up the owners manual online which indicated the type of battery, CR2430 and bought one at Radio Shack for $6.

The watch comes with a tool to remove the battery plate. A simple clockwise turn of about 15 degrees and the backing pops off. There is an o-ring but I left it in place. I read online you can buy a battery kit from Aeris for $22 that includes an 0-ring and silicone tube but I am impatient and like to live dangerously.

When I put the new battery in the time was off by 2 hours but the date was correct and my previous days dive stats were still there.

    Haven't water tested it yet but if it doesn't work I'm blaming Dan <img src= " class="smiley" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x" height="23" width="23" loading="eager" data-tooltip="biggrin" aria-label="biggrin">

I hammered a fence staple into the end of an old sling handle and attached my Rob Allen shock cord to it which you see in the pic w/the grouper. In Islamorada I was using the Rob Allen some so I just used a piece of dacron line with a snap swivel. You really don't need the shock cord but I prefer it. I used 2x spear length for line length which seemed to work. Every once in a while the line wrapped around my left heel. The line never snagged bottom or tangled me in a way to impede my ascent. One time in Islamorada yesterday I shot at a mutton and the line was wrapped around my right shoulder. It stopped the spear way short of the target but didn't hurt my arm at all. I love the purity of freediving w/plain hawaiin sling but the benefits of the line impressed me and I will probably continue to use it.

Thanks guys! Just got back from 2 days in Islamorada. Got some nice gags and a mangrove.
Yes, I finally used a line on the sling for the first time on that trip. I spent hours drilling that spearshaft a couple weeks before the trip, then I almost didn't bring it since I only tested it in my pool. All I can say is it sucks. Don't anyone try it^^
As far as the cheek muscle, the locals were fighting over the head so I imagine that size Hogfish head has quite a bit of meat on it.
Regarding that particular dive, the Aeris divewatch I got from Dan indicated 53ft with total dive time 1:15 sec. I was drifting with the boat, spotted it and told Loretta to drop the anchor. It was moving slowly from my right to left. I came straight down on him. He layed sideways to look at me then straightened up and started to accelerate away from me. The shaft entered behind his left eye and exited his right jaw. He started to bolt but I gave one quick kick and grabbed the shaft, bear hugged him and made and easy ascent.... and asked Loretta to get the camera8)

My boat buddy bailed this weekend. Anyone have room for a Speardivin' Brother? Local, keys, or Bahamas.

Cool! I've never thought of using Cedar. I notice you gave it an octagonal shape vs round. I recommend wrapping the butt also for quicker loading.

great shot. always worth a shaft to bag a fish like that. i would mount the bent shaft above a framed photo of that fish in your man-cave.

I've never seen anything like it! I ordered the Aeris Scuba & Free Diving Computer online saturday night and it arrived at my house the following monday morning. Of course, I did pay only $6 for shipping, so you'd expect some delay. <img src= " height="23" srcset="https://spearfishing.world/forum/images/smilies/emojione/1f606@2x.png 2x"> Holy smokes, it arrived so fast I didn't even have time to hide it from my wife!http://spearfishing.world/images/smilies/eek.gif
Thank you Dan for great products, prices and amazing service.

Ice. Gentle massage . Be careful w/cervical manipulation(chiropractic) early on in case of ligamentous laxity - you don't want to tear vertebral artery. If symptoms worsen get x-rays/neuro consult.
The grappling training/fitness probably saved your life. Most people want to do bench press and
curls and neglect to properly train the neck. Helmet is cheap insurance, esp in s. fl.
