I know it is a long shot but……………
Is there anyone out there with a dead Lowrance HDS 10 or 10m ?
Because Lowrance do not have a repair facility in Australia and they refuse to sell parts I am chasing one for parts.
Lowrance will only offer me a refurbished unit for $1200 when a $10 part needs replacing. I refuse to give them another cent.
If you have a dead one or know someone that does please don't hesitate to contact me
Thanks Keith

Nice footage :thumbsup5: Was it shot with the flat lens because some of it wasn't very focused?
Yes the flat lens was used, Some of the quality may have been reduced when uploaded to Viemo as the clip on my computer is clear and focused, even on full screen.

After purchasing 2 Gopro's from Dan in a bid to capture some of the action in my back yard(The Great Barrier Reef) I have a small clip that I managed to get from a whole lot of experimental footage that I thought I would share.
Coral Trout is the best eating fish in these parts and is what I target when we go to the reef and is the red fish featured in the clip and the brown fish speared (shallow water Coral Trout)....for those that didn't know
hope you enjoy.....

Question to Troutcatcher from a landlocked American, what are "the bommies?"
G'day mate, What we call a bommie is a rocky or coral outcrop rising from deeper water. This is what the reef is basicaily made up of and what you dive on for your reef species. You dont want to run your boat into one of these.
-
Yea, No probs mate. I'm no pro diver, There are tones of divers that have more experance and capabilities than me.I can't hold my breath for 3min or dive to 20m , I just love the reef... and sometimes get so taken in with the beautifull fish and coral gardens that I will swim straight past a nice coral trout to have my partner screaming through her snorkel " trout trout".
The main thing is safety don't go near the reef when the sun is too low in the sky or if it is overcast- you wont see the bommies and can run into them. Make sure you dive with someone.

where are you going to be diving
.I just got back now... the weather was SH##T.. I don't like going into the reef when the weather is rough(or overcast) We baged out on coral trout(on line) and did manage a quick dive before I got too nervous (no fish on spear today)
I live in Townsville so I dive (line fish also) the reef's out from here. Slasher reefs, grub reef, centipede reef, Chicken reef. Google them and you will see. Going from lucinda is a good idea as the reef's are closer from there .. 20mile ish where it is 43mile to the closest reef from townsville. I will start a new thread shortley with some photos for thoes that are interested, I got 2x gopro from dan and i am working on a short vid will post when finished.

Next time take down the pole. Even non metal objects shouldnt be sticking up too. High:@
Yes, I had also thought that when I got home and looked at the photos.

It fried your stereo! How close were those lightning strikes? I'm guessing the one in the picture wasn't the closest one right?
No it wasn't the closest or the only one, there was many much closer. It was the only one we caught on camera,We were lucky NOT to get hit.
-
Epic photo. Nice glad you're safe. Did the air crackle when that hit?
Yea..
There was lots of strikes around us and plenty of electricity in the air, We were getting zapped.... like severe static electricity zaps. -
Hi Guys, Went to Chicken Reef- 70 mile off the coast of Townsville Australia last weekend. I was armed with a Gopro from Dan and a RA mount from Tin Man to get some footage of killing some fine Coral Trout..... We camped up overnight to get an early start when we woke to some wicked weather..... After the second storm and a couple of close strikes frying my stereo and one of my outboard gauges we decided to vacate....
Thought I would share this photo of the trip.
