great material for saving weight, i have a ti road bike and love it but it's not as stiff as people think. i made several hybrids early on using it and found it to flex way more than i though. in fact, it flexed more that aluminum with an extruded rail built in and at the same price as carbon it just didn't make sense to continue. i think for our purposes the only positive other than the "bling" factor is its resistance to corrosion.

i think that people think ti is some indestructible metal , because of the aerospace roots ,and price . in reality its just, light weight, corrosion resistant aluminum. i do have to admit ti is fun to anodize

I have never tried tape on my fins, do you guys really see an increase in fish attraction? I can see how Jacks would follow you up through the water column or getting macks to swing a little closer I guess. I was thinking tape or better a small mirror on the tip of my gun (think below the shaft) in order to give them something to look at while I line up. I just might try some tape on the fins in Baja next month. Thanks for passing on the type of tape.

it helps with yellow tail in bad vis . the flash makes them curious and they come in for a look. i dont know how much it helps in clear water

they can say whatever they want, that is not safe , especially in a riffe mech , a round notch shaft puts upward pressure on the top of the housing ,you said it as loaded with 5 bands ? that means you had 400# to 500# of pressure acting on the top of that thin sheet metal housing, that is desgined to have 0# presure with a square notch shaft :@

looks like a screw up at the riffe factory . personally i wouldnt use that in a big gun ,it will engage in the mech but will cause a lot of up force on the housing ,and down force on the sear ,in addition to the pulling force that the sear is designed for .

btw many euro shafts will work in american mechs ,and many euros will work with "riffe" shaftsl

^^ yes ,that is by far the best, strongest, most streamlined way to do it . if you absolutely insist in using the big thick ones you can get them at osh

When you do the test it should be done with 400 lb mono to see the relevance. Anything greater than your shooting line is not important. A typical 480 lb swivel will hold the biggest fish that most of us will ever shoot. I use a 270 lb for my reef fish rig and have never been broken off. Just saying....

i can test against mono, but i know its stronger than mono. im simply want to know what type of swivel is stronger if i test with something that fails before the swivel i learn nothing but the fact that the swivel is stronger than mono, and i already know that. mono is changed all the time ,a swivel is reused for years.

of course the pounds landed is less now than when they were able to fish with gill nets when the fish were in spawning .now its harder to catch them with the gear that commercials are allowed to use. if they were allowed to use gill nets again for a year i bet the tonnage landed would be right back up or above the old numbers.the guy that the quoted in the article also is pushing for a halibut hatchery where he fishes ,and if the numbers ore fine why should there be a hatchery?there is always more to consider when you look at a report like this.

I've read that ingesting small amounts of poison oak buds can help build up a resistance. The Chumash and probably other aboriginal tribes suffered no effects from the poison oak.

most people that have some amount of american Indian in them are immune to poison oak. i can roll around in the stuff and have never been able to get it .
