Nice Build Kleberson I like the Barrel and the shapes. Where you spearfishing in Brazil? What you catching?
Thanks Behslayer!
Well, I live in the central Brazil region. So I dive a lot in fresh water and the fish that I like to catch is the peacock fisch (In Brazil: TUCUNARÉ as in the pic of my avatar). But I can catch many other types like many different catfish.
When I can, I travel to the Brazil coast, especially to Brazilian Northeast where is very good to spearfishing.

Nice gun!
.
in my modest opinion a suggestion: if it,s made with teak (grade A/ I guess) it does'nt need any protection by oil or varnish, unless for cosmetcic...
You are correct Virgili! But, the teak wood only will be mature and with good quantity of natural oil to promote a natural waterproofing when it comes from trees 30 years old. Here in Brazil, the people cut the teak tree when they are 15 or 20 year old. So, they don't have good natural waterproofing and for that reason I applied epoxi resin.
I didn't understand what you mean with grade A.
Moreover, I don't like to spend time applying oil in my guns... So, i prefer resin plus automotive varnish and it will be done forever!
Thanks for your comment!
Hello folks!
I'd like to show the speargun that I'm making. It is almost ready! I need to finish the reel and tie the rubbers. I used invert wide Speardiver Mech (To me this is the best one!) and Teak wood.
I hope you enjoy!

Hello guys!
It's been a long time since I wanted to talk about the Speardiver fins. I said something about them on other topics but never mentioned durability. I have these fins since they were still Pursuit! They already have five years and are driving me as the day that I received them.
Thank you Dan, by offering top quality material at a fair price!

I'm crazy waiting for!:uwphoto::toast2::toast2:
Wishihadgills,
I'm confuse...
Don't You have to use the same % elongation in both guns?:confused1::crazy: If in the rollergun the stretched length is 200 cm and in the conventional it is 115 cm, they can't use the same size of bands:nono:
In the roller gun the bands has to be bigger in your example doesn't it?
Or it may get more power shorting the bands in the conventional gun...
PS. 5 cm in the roller muzzle is too much:):)

Hello everyone,
I have used the Speardiver blade with Pathos footpockets (3rd generation) since it was Pursuit... I love this combination. I can dive all day and I don't feel pain or cramp. The set is very light and I feel like if I had nothing in my feet! The blade works very well and it is too reactive with good energy transfer.

Nice fish and pics! I really wish to dive in this waters... One day I will...

Really very nice work!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
And about the new Sony Action cam? Some review abouti it?
Hi Dan!
Do you already have this Speardiver float for sale?

Display MoreThanks Phil. Then my DIY buoyancy test is more or less accurate. Has anyone tested floats this way and can confirm the manufacturer's stated buoyancy? I will test floats and post the results. The first one being the new Speardiver float which measured 44lb of lift at the surface (saltwater).
https://spearfishing.world/image/1b686.jpg
The Speardiver float is similar to the Aimrite. It measures 45" long by 12.5" wide. For comparison the two Aimrite sizes are:
Reef float 39" long by 12" wide - stated buoyancy 48lb.
Bluewater float 48" long by 14.25" wide - stated buoyancy 90lb.
As you can see the size of the Speardiver float is approximately in between the two Aimrite sizes so theoretically should have more lift than the Aimrite reef float. I'm really curious to see if the reef float actually has 48lb of lift.
Somebody can say something about this CONTOUR camera? Wich is the best options GOPRO Hero 2 or the new CONTOUR?
And wich is the best model for underwater films from CONTOUR?

Ok Phil and Paul thanks for the informations! But look, only in the last two aplications was made with diluted resin using spray gun. I did this for a better finishing. The three firsts application was made using paint-brush and resin without thinner. I believe that the finishing was better like this way.

be carefull when using anything thinned with alcohol , alcohol is the bridge between oil and water and makes petroleum and other chemicals water soluble( think of how ethonal sucks water into your gas on a boat ) and they enter the skin on contact .
Phil
I'm not Dan but...
You're better off not thinning it, adding solvent will lower the viscosity, but it also degrades the resin, physical properties drop when you add anything not in the original formula. Is also does little to help penetration, so you don't really gain much for the downside of weakening the resin. Some people claim adding as much as 50% of some type of solvent works great, but if you’ve ever seen what it does to resin you’d think differently. This applies to both epoxy and polyester. Many of the penetrating epoxies on the market are just normal epoxies with a great deal of low cost solvent added, then they jack up the price.
Thinning reduces the dissolved solids and strength of the resin as much as 35%.
How long does it take to dry on the gun? It doesn't clog up the spray gun?
It begins to dry after 15 or 20 minutes. No, it doesn't clog up the spray gun, but you have to work with certain pressure and dilution.
After the work in each aplication wash the spray gun with thinner and everything is ok!
Thanks everyone!
Dan
The finish is epoxy resin diluted by isopropyl alcohol.
What kind of finish are you spraying there?
Finally I'm finishing my speargun! It is a 140 (56 inches) for blue water.
I used Brasilian mohogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and Pequiá (Caryocar Villosum) and a Pursuit reverse mechanism. It will use 8.0 mm shaft and 4 bands. look the pics (they are not so good). I'll post more pics with bands and shaft later.
