Left at 7am from Homestead marina...it was 4 of us. We hit our 1st spot in about 15-20ft and i spotted a nice black grouper 24+ inches.....i stalked it and shot it once he stopped under a rock! the fish went ballistic and my adrenaline rush got the best of me as i raced to the fish and battled the fish under the rock and as i was bringing it out.... i pulled the shaft right out of him!!!!!!!!!!!:nono: YOU CAN NEVER TAKE A FISH FOR GRANTED ONCE SPEARED!!!! any ways i tried looking for it after it went free...but it was no where to be found! My buddy Alain shot a nice Mutton from a descent distance, and my good friend Carlos who tried spear fhishng for the very 1st time shot a 20 inch Hog.....he loved the sport after this hunt. We later moved more East to about 35-40ft and there Alain lost a 30in+ black which he shot as the black was swimming towards the rocks! once the fish was shot....it ripped it self away from the shaft even though Alain had let go of the gun and held to the float line...his shaft got bent by that big black :laughing3: all the groupers we spotted in about 30-40ft would hide under the cave tunnels making it difficult to get....after checking another spot in 20-40ft Carlos shot two more hog, and so did i....and we then headed back to the patches where i was stalking what it looked like an 18inch hog when suddenly this Hogzilla appears out of no where and begins to swim next to my exprey....i had another target in mind now and as i was about to shoot the zilla....he goes inside a rock that was maybe about 8ft wide and looked pretty small for such a big fish...i began to look for the fish through all the little holes of the rock and i spotted him in different holes but he would move since he spotted me too untill i spotted his big red eye in a hole that was maybe 10inches X 12inches and i then came back up the surface and i tell Carlos to give me my Mares Cyrano 970 cuz my Riffe Euro 100 was too long for this shot...i go back down to the rock and the fish is still there...i aim to his big red eye and :overkill: BOOM i shoot it right behind the eye....the fish is going ballistic under the rock i push the shaft into him to make sure the fish is secured and i dont loose it like the big grouper i had lost earlier, I come back for air. i tell Alain to come down and help me get it out while i catch my breath and try to relax before going down again. Alain goes down and pulls the shaft up and there is the big face of Hogzilla in this little hole. Alain says to me...is BIG! i go back down with my knife and stab him in the head to kill it since he was resisting to come out...Alain goes back down and the fish is still stuck in the hole since he is still resisting....i go back down and i manage to get a bit of his head out and i stab him good right in his brain....and i am able to pull him out the rock throught a hole smaller than the fish!:toast: It was a good day and Carlos who speared for the very 1st time has now also fallen in love with the sport.

I still havent gotten over the grouper i lost for such a stupid move from my part! :slap:

    1 mutton

I didn't shoot, but my buddy paul shot a nice 20lb+ king that was eaten in around two bites....the king looks tiny but the camera is a little weird. If you have ever seen big bulls they have a huge hump in their back like the ones in the vid, so they were NOT small ;)

Very nice vid....nice pack of bull too!

We left early in the morning and arrived at Matheson Hammocks just before sun rise. we headed towards some rocks off Miami, and shot 4 hogs, the only ones we found!. in about 20ft i found a 3ft barracuda just hanging next to the reef. I shot it, but it looked ill :@ , but my buddy Rick then calls me and tells me of a bigger cuda he had spotted, about 4 1/2ft. Rick takes the 1st shot, and the animal goes ballistic...i then put a second shaft into her and right away two other cudas showed up! We were alarmed and worried they would attack our catch, and by the time i had gotten my gun ready....they were gone :nono: so i go back to Rick and we fisnish the cuda with some stabs to the head! after scouting the area for potential targets we find nothing else to shoot but just a lonely mackerel in about 30 ft mid water which i shot and took home. BTW the rocks were filled with Gags, Blacks, and Red groupers.....too bad they are out of season

:toast: it was a good day yesterday! :toast:

    4- hogs
    1- mackerel
    1- 4 1/2ft barracuda

I just got my Go Pro for Xmas and found how to mount it in my Pneumatic Mares Cyrano 970. Before the Go Pro i was using my Olumpus though series and improvised on a home made camera mount which is below. Now i purchased the Roll Bar Mount and is perfect for pneumatic guns, pictures are below. I also tried mounting the camera in my Omer Alien mask, but i need an additional screw to input from inside the mask out, i was using the screws that the Go Pro mount brings, but is a bit unconfortable on the forehead, so tomorrow i will buy a screw at the same measurement of the gopro screws so i can insert it frrom the inside of the mask out and then secure it out side so the camera stays steady.

GO PRO CAMERA ROLL BAR MOUNT:

Hi guys! i just got my Go Pro for Xmas! :), and i am going to mount it in my Omer mask thanks to the forums that showed me how to do it, but once in a while i may want to mount the camera in my gun, and i already improvised a homedepot mount that looks like Frankenstein, not very good looking, and very bulky. I used that mount for my Olumpus though. Do you guys got any idea for a gun mount for the Go-Pro? I got a Mares Cyrano 970.

    thanks!

Hey guys! my name is Jose and i was invited into this forum by a friend. I am from Cuba and came at the age of 11. I currently work for State Farm and have been in the insurance industry since 16 years of age. I have a always been into outdoor sports, mainly fishing. I bought my 1st boat back in May 2010, and it is a Mako 18lts bay boat. It is great for shallow waters and offshore, and since it is a bay boat it's got a nice flat deck in the back and front which is great for divers. FYI > my boat is not the first boat i ride on, but first i own. I got into spearfishing some time in June 2010, and have fallen in love with the sport since then, i think i prefer it more than fishing with lines. I have learned to love the sport of spearfishing and free diving, and i am currently trying to learn as much as i can so i can dive deeper and hold my breath for longer when diving. Much reading and DVDs is my learning material + any advise that any experienced spearo can give me. Luckily i have met two guys from whom i am learning a lot since they have been practicing spearfishing for longuer time than i have. Besides fishing i am much into photography, and videography. I have been taking pictures of nature and cities for about 4 years, but now i am trying something new and that is filming under water and video editing. I am hoping to recieve the Go Pro camera for Xmas so i can record under water and share some videos with you all.

Any ways this is a bit about me, and my interest....... if i can ever give you any advises to help you i will give it to you....and i am hoping i can learn from you all as well.

    Jose:thumbsup2:
