I'm planning a trip for April/May and am strongly considering Costa Rica. I've been to the Guanacaste area before, but not to spear. We'll probably fly into Liberia and be based in that area again. I've done a bunch of searches for spearfishing in CR, and the name that keeps coming up is Agua Azul. That outfit looks perfect, except that there's a very good chance that I'll be the only spearo on the trip, which would make a multiple-day spearfishing excursion a pretty expensive affair. It's still an option for a day or so, but I'm wondering if there is a lower-cost alternative other than shore diving.
I'd also appreciate any recommendations on a specific area to stay in, such as Playa Hermosa, Playa del Coco, etc. We'd like to be within a reasonable distance to Tamarindo. The last time we were there we stayed in Ocotal. Thanks.
