Orange County Classic Tournament 8-3-13

  • Join us August 3rd for the OC Classic Spearfishing Tournament & support the Wounded Warrior Project.

    Entry in the OC Classic Spearfishing Tournament includes T-Shirt, lunch, the opportunity to win great raffle prizes, and awards for the top three competitors. This is a family event for all to enjoy. Additional tournament T-Shirts are available ($15 via paypal,indicate size/quantity) if ordered and paid for by July 1st. Tournament entry forms can be found at OC Spearos - Orange County's Premier Spearfishing and Freediving Club (Events/Tournament page). Forms can be emailed to info@ocspearos.org and payment sent through paypal under info@ocspearos.org. Entries will be accepted the day of tournament.

    Date: Saturday, August 3rd 2013


    Time: From 8:00am to 3:00pm. All fish entries must be presented for judging by the 3:00pm deadline. All late entries will be disqualified.


    Check in: Day-Of Check in from 7:30am-9am @ Dana Cove Park (Look for Pop-Up Tents). Divers must not enter water until 8am (Honor System)


    Location: Dana Cove Park (Dana Point Harbor Dr & Ensenada PL) In the Dana Point Harbor


    Cost:
    $30 - Active Military
    $35 - Paid/ Current Members of another California Spearfishing Club
    $45 - All other divers
    $10 - Food and Drinks for all Non-Competing Guests


    Rules:
    The tournament will be a three fish contest and will follow the National Spearfishing rules, but will be in a scramble format. The top three participants with the largest 3 fish will receive a prize. All State and Local game/fish rules will apply. Competitors must possess a valid CA fishing license. All spearguns, including pole spears, must be loaded using muscle power. No detonating or power heads may be used. Spearguns must be loaded and unloaded in the water. No free-shafts will be allowed. No chumming/ baiting allowed at any time. Fish may only be taken while freediving. Use of SCUBA or hooka system will not be permitted. Divers must take their own fish. Paddleboards/ Kayaks or Flotation must be manually powered.Rules Cont. Diving/ Spearfishing will be permitted within the Orange County Border - Seal Beach to San Clemente (Cottons Point). Divers may not enter the water until 8am August 3rd 2013 and must be presented for judging at Dana Cove Park by the 3:00pm deadline. All late entries will be disqualified.


    Fish Quantity:
    No more than three fish (3) fish total may be weighed in. Only one fish (1) per species may be weighed in. Failure to comply with meet rules will result in disqualification


    Scoring:
    One (1) point per fish plus one (1) point per pound excepting that a single
    fish's point may not exceed 21 points (20lbs. plus 1 point for fish). In the event of a tie, the participant with the largest fish (by weight) wins.
