I asked before JC but didn't get a answer on instagram, do the hook and line boys get yellowfin in Florida?
-
Dude, sorry my IG has a mind of its own,
the awnser to you question:
we even gaff them from the docks
http://youtu.be/fgpFRfSMxj8Just kidding, that vid blew my mind!!
Like anything there is a long and a short awnser.
In my opinion, those in Sfl.who have the desire/motivation/money to target YFT, head to the bahamas.
I have fishe ALOT and only seen one, ONCE, freeswiming, sickle out of the water in like 75ft of water, while the boat was on plane:(
Blackfin can be targeted pretty well locally but from what I know, reliable yft fishing is what local call "the otherside" as in the east edge of gulfstream that sweeps over the bahamas.
Its also a big boat/big money affair, with Lots of livies, radar, running and chasing birds. Basically the stuff of dreams.
We settle for small potatoes
Thanks!!

JC I have an Antiguan buddy who lives in Florida and is considered amongst the best fishermen worldwide period, I am going to ask him where if it's possible to target YF in Florida. I would very much like to see you get one locally.
That video is one of the craziest things I have ever seen! -
By the way, holy shit how big were those rainbow runners!
