I've been looking online for information on that Bazooka as you know it's pretty scarce. Do you think the recoil (midhandle) will effect the shot? There was a guy online sometime back who fabricated a mid handle Cyrano and I was thinking about trying it on an old Cressi I have. I never shot a mid handle speargun, band or rubber but with the visibility we have here in Rhode Island it may work out well.

Thanks Lunker Buster, when I started out diving I used to shoot whatever fish I thought was legal but as the years went by I stared to select my catch. I found myself not able to eat all the fish I shot and most of the time I forgot I had fish in the freezer. Now say for an example if I shoot a big striper I give them to the people fishing off the shore. I love to give the fish to the asian people because they eat almost every part of the fish. Myself, I don't cook so well so I just fillet them and alot of meat gets left behind. My girlfriend is asian so every once in a while she wants a fish. Man, she can make a 30 lb. fish into a dozen meals that will last for days. Through the years I have met friends and families in the northwestern part of my state, some who have yet to see the ocean since they left their homeland, who enjoy eating fish so I sometimes bring the fish to them. They make amazing dishes and best of all they serve it with Caronas!

Alright, I'm only here until June 3'rd then I'm finished. The rate we are going, I'm not sure the boat will be assembled though most of the parts should be done. The school is in Bristol.

Have you been able to get in the water this year?

Thanks Dan, I have a friend who used to make fun of me because I was always trying something new and you know how it is when you try something 90% of the time it breaks or needs revisions. I learned alot though. Because of th added agravation I use off the shelf items now. I look for equipment that is easily replaceable but yet durable. Makes diving much more enjoyable. Though with the experience I have gotten here in school I think a new project may be in order. I have an idea of carbon fiber pneumatic speargun. I just need to finish up classes.

We will be finished with it on June 4th. If you would like to see it in the making pm me and you can come up to the school. I just finished a couple of braces which resemble a speargun design.Super light and super strong. Cheap tooling but the material is expensive.

I dove with you a few years ago during the tautog meet in October. We went out on that crappy day off Castle hill.

Hello, my name is Brian. I'm from Rhode Island. started spearfishing around 2000. Was employed until recently as a Mechanical Designer but got laid off. I'm presently enrolled in the Composites Technology program at International Yacht Restoration School here in RI. I've had the chance to build canoes, a work skiff and presently building a Moth sailboat (hydrofoil) from pre preg carbon fiber. My goal is to work with carbon fiber building prosthetics. We'll see.

Regarding spearfishing I primarily shore dive but do own a kayak and half owner of an AB inflatable. Both have thier advantages. Primary fish I shoot are Striped Bass as well as Scup, Black Sea Bass and Bluefish. I rarely shoot fish though I prefer to learn as much as possible from a location and shoot fish which provide a challenge. I shoot tautog if I want a fish to eat. Current gun is Cyrano 970 with SeacSub reel.
