Thank you all for your responses.... My mechanic was talking about that certain models on each brand have better reps.... such as i remember him telling me the yamaha 225s like you have jcmeng & wishihadgills...are exceptionally great reliable engines...when on the other hand the 250s have had such problems like you mentioned Hank.

Built 7- I will try and find the model code on the receipt when i get a chance to dig it up at work tomorrow. Im quite interested in what you have to say being the revered mechanic i hear you are.

Went to the boat show today at 6 thinking it was open till 8 was closed... so research gathering starts tomorrow and ill share my findings and what im leaning towards when i can.

Thanks again guys for all the feedback so far

What up SD. For those of you that know me and dive with me.... my engine has gone through its second powerhead!??.... For those who don't I have a 24ft. Dusky open fisherman. On it a Yamaha 250 that was bought in 04 with a 5 year warranty, 1 month after that i lost my first power head, had some shit mechanics work on it and rebuilt it, for it only to re-break 1 year later. Then i finally got some qualified people (way over priced) to finally replace the powerhead....1.5 years later... another powerhead cashed (yesterday)....

Im looking to buy a whole new engine at this point, I finally have a mechanic i feel very confident in (a close friends close friend) after speaking with him on the subject and him explaining the long history of problems associated with the (i beleive) HDPI or HPDI being the source of the problem, and how he personally has seen 20+ of these power-heads replaced. That being said, he seems to really be for the 250 Suzuki or if they have it in size 25 (idk what that means) the 250 SS. Iv never heard any kind of hype or consumer reviews on these. being the mechanical amateur i am, reading the understandable stuff is all just whos the better seller and i can't really differentiate whats better than what.... So im asking all the gear heads and mechanics of this fine site what they have to say about the new Suzuki 250's and 250SS's... and their closest competitor? (my guess Yamaha).

With the boat show starting tomorrow I am hoping to get a good deal on something new.

Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Dusky, does your mask leak a bit? Or is the water in there initially and just never comes out? You might want to try to find a mask that fits your face a bit better if it leaks. I find that a good fitting and well defogged mask with a small amount of de-fogger or spit. Put on your face after jumping in and cooling your face down. Can stay perfectly clear for 5-6 hours solid.

I dont think I have a leak reef. But its droplets that stick to the inside of my mask and never roll down to collect in the bottom of the mask, or if they do they leave a dotted trail of water. it drives me nuts..i then try to whip it clean with a rag or something and end up never getting all the water and adding a few fibers from my cloth...quite frustrating...i just rinse and shake till i can get as few as possible then put it on... what i would do for my mask to look like JDVs^^^

I have a problem with an accumulation of water droplets inside and out that i feel really affects my total vision... if this stuff made it slippery enough for me to swing out all the droplets id be in heaven!.... If you could Ronny, an try this out id really like to know how it goes...or if not does anyone knows a quality cloths that soaks up the water and doesn't leave any type of fibers or smears?..that would be great.

I used to have fog problems too but after the lighter and toothpaste method i was good to go.

eeekk i saw this pic as well on fb... ganna stop by for a club meeting tonight i believe...first time going..heard its a bunch of old guys gettin shitty but im still down to check it out

Ive only used one type of tape and its has worked really well for me. Right when I started using them a lot of macks starting to come it closer to me to check me out, and i've also noticed the cuda's following me more. ANd yes, it does kinda catch the shark's eye when they're a crap ton of them around lol.

But the brand I use is called REFLEXILE. ive never had to change them, and they're still shiny to this day. The adhesive on them is amazing, never had one fall off. The commercial longliners use them on their hiflyers to mark them bouys.

Awesome! do you have a website or store you got this tape from?

Also, what is your reasoning for your tape placement (top of fin? i couldnt see, bottom) and style ( lil pieces all over).

yoyo SD, im wondering what reflective tapes or stickers you use on fins, gun, or what have you... Ideally looking for the best sticking, water-resistant, low-profile (thickness) material

I have found this.. which kinda lead me to another question of what pattern would attract fish best? or just reflective?

    IDENTI-TAPE - Holographic Tape

Also, from my understanding flashers are generally utilized in blue water, hunting pelagics. My question is does having permanent flashers on fins or whatever have any effect on reef living fish?? positive or negative?

New to the forum sorry if this is a repeat subject.

    Thanks in advance
