Shot some decent snapper the on the bay north of paihia, looking hard for that fish that breaks the 20lb mark haha. Got into some yellows today, heaviest went about 40lb. Great fun diving in an awesome location with really fantastic people. :thumbsup2:
Water is about 70 and the viz is anywhere from 15-30ish right now. it will only getter better in the next two months yeeeeeeeeeee  -
and Aussie spearo, the 90cm RA might be my favorite gun of all time. I have shot everything with it in USA, Mex and now NZ, another kingy and 5 smapper fell to the 90 alone

been up in the bay of islands for a few days now, me and my buddy from home have shot a few more kingfish and a handful of snapper.
The snapper are the most challenging fish to hunt I have ever run into, there is no approaching them, you have to completely take them by surprise by peeking out over the tops of ledges or rocks, great fun!
here's a couple of pics -
scallop diving yesterday to stock up for the new years party, we killed it :cool2:

Got out for a beach dive today
Got total tunnel vision when I got schooled by some kingies and shot this one went about 25. there were about 10 fish in the school and two of the ****ers looked a bit past the 50lb mark....
Ended the day with a bug and a king, not bad
Oh yeah this was with a single band 90 RA -
Weather has been warm and a little bit rainy! Tomorrow I'm going out to waiheke island for a few days to have some fun

Some epic pictures right there. Nice work dude!

6 months wow. Careful you don't fall in love and never come back
That is a completely possible scenario...:@
For new years I'll be stuck on a private island with a bunch of supermodels for 3 days, should happen sooner than I think

Been planning this trip for a few years now and I am pretty amped.
Flight leaves tomorrow night around 9 and I don't come back till July. Boom!:cool2:
I'll try to post pictures up on this every now and then when I get a second.
Here's most of the crap I'm taking :cool2:
Anyone who is down there hit me up and lets go kill some fish!
and to Dan I managed to get a blown up pic of your fins on sb by tony :laughing3: -
When the viz is that bad I swim with my left hand holding the muzzle of the gun right next to my face and my right hand behind me with my thumb on the trigger. The second I see anything, game over. Took me a while to get to the point where my first reaction was to push the trigger when you see a fish but it works awesome for halibut in crap viz.

I grabbed one of the biggest horn sharks I came across a few years ago . I had the gun in one hand and got a crappy grab so when he started squirming I brought it into my chest to give it a bear hug so I wouldn't lose it. Its mouth landed right on my man boob and he clamped down like a vise. I broke the surface screaming like a girl. Even after I let go of the shark it wouldn't let go, the thing was actually sort of chewing on me. After 15 or 20 seconds I finally was able to rip it off. Left a really nice bruise for a while...

I'll take it, but I wouldn't be able to get down by you until next weekend if that's ok.

The JBL elite out of the box has shot way better than any of the riffe guns I've shot set up to factory standards.
I have since bought another of of chris's guns to replace the JBL elite, but I did take whites with it to 55lbs and my little brother now dives with the gun. Next week he should kill plenty of grouper and maybe some yellows with it.
If you want a wood gun they are unbeatable for the price. -
Huge fish man, congrats

Welcome! Sounds like you live in a great place to connect with a big fish.
